[history]
A Northwest Airlines flight from Memphis, Tenn., to Las Vegas was diverted to Arkansas this morning after the flight crew raised concerns about the behavior of some passengers.
Northwest spokeswoman Mary Beth Schubert said four of the passengers were detained by authorities.

Maybe they were shaving each other in the bathroom. Weird. Not so weird. I just heard on WLS radio in Chicago that some passengers on that flight and also a Minneapolis (either radio or tv, not sure) station, said that the men in the lav were shaving their body hair.

I've never been on a flight to Las Vegas where I haven't been concerned about the behavior of some passengers. Funny thing though: the flight home is always more subdued.
To: Shermy
Sorry, hadn't read your #24 before posting about these guys shaving body hair. Glad to see a link for it, since I didn't have one.

And your source for the speculative interpretation of events?
To: Shermy
When asked if weapons of any kind were in possession of the four men, Sgt. Copeland could not comment on this matter.Interesting 'No Comment', eh? And if it was just some simple cultural mistake about shaving...Uh, where did they get their shavers...and by chance were they straight edge?
To: Paul Ross
the three men appeared to be of Middle Eastern descent
I'm pretty tired of this.

Im wondering if they unconsciously behaved suspiciouslyHow about consciously behaving suspiciously, to bust chops, and then be able to claim "discrimination." Four ME men traveling together on 9/11; in the air at the exact moments of impacts at the WTC -- even if they weren't prepared to hijack the plane, their very presence couldn't help but to raise the antennae on any passenger with half a brain.
Sounds like "in your face" to me.

I think you can bring razors on board for religious rituals . . . something like that?

You know, like right before a martyrdom operation . . . it's only fair . . . tolerance . . .

>>>>No wonder the airlines never wanted air marshalls. Bad press.<<<<<
WHAT????? The airlines begged for Air Marshals and lots of them.
To: Paul Ross
Granted, I refered to these three in another thread is "Islamic Bathroom Buddies"; but, it may simply be that they looked around at all of the angry Americans on the plane and started to feel like three mice at a cat convention. And since getting up and leaving the aircraft isn't an option at 35,000 feet, perhaps they thought that hiding in the loo for the duration of the flight was a good idea.

Probably doing drugs. Anal suppositories?

How the hell were they shaving if you can't carry a TOENAIL clipper---much less a RAZOR??I wouldn't put it past someone to have infiltrated ground crew or maintenance, would you? Not only with a razor, but with weapons or explosives. Entirely possible that items were well-hidden somewhere in the lav.

Yes, very funny. Let's send 'em to Gitmo, or better still, to Pak or Turkey where we can subcontract the locals to show them the true meaning of "funny."
