Where It's 9-11 All the Time...
various links

This is a small collection of links, organized into four consecutive categories:
1- A look back from now.
2- The 9-11 attack "as it went down, live..."
3- The aftermath.
4- Remembrance.
As with all such posts, there are links within links within links, and to fully remember and inform yourself, you need to follow them all- but be warned!
Some will take you to gruesome pictures and disturbing stories, so tread carefully.
I honestly believe that most Americans need to view these things, and never forget, or forgive, what was visited on defenseless and innocent people on that black day.
Use your own judgement, but look if you can.

A look back:
The Eve of Destruction - 9/10/2002
Free Dominion ^ | September 11, 2002 | Entropy Squared
"World War III started on September 11, 2001 as surely as World War II started with the bombing of Pearl Harbor. What you are seeing in these pictures is a sneak attack by enemies who want to destroy the freedom and liberty we enjoy, as surely as the Japanese wanted to destroy us and as surely as the Nazis wanted to destroy us."
The original "as it happened" --
"CNBC reports a plane has hit the World Trade Center in NY. No details..."
The Sierra Times - One Year Ago 09.11.01 Report by J.J. Johnson Published 09. 10. 02 at 21:36 Sierra Time
|
Then, the rest:
"The story of the victims who jumped to their deaths is the most sensitive aspect of the Sept. 11 tragedy. Photographs of people falling to their deaths shocked the nation...It was worse than people realize."
Fair warning- there are gruesome pictures on this post. You have been cautioned!
"When the whining, sappy, head-in-the-sand idiots at work say we shouldn't go to war, we should put all this behind us (and believe me, they have been saying these things) I've pointed to that shot and asked if they would feel any different if that was their mother, father or child."
And finally, remembrance:

As a way of bumping this post, I'll toss in a piece of poetry I worked on with the intention of leading with it- but in a classic case of writer's block, I got just so far, then couldn't squeeze any more out of it... blast it!
Where it's nine-eleven all the time
and no Sun sets,
and no clocks chime
where no voice speaks
and no bird trills
the Moon hangs frozen
o'er the hills
The winds are still, they seem to say,
Reflect, remember,
stop to pray...

Yep. Speaking of Clinton, he is on the Letterman Show. How dare David have this piece of slime on his show. I'm not watching it though. I'm watching "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels".

LOL...been there, done that plenty of times!! If you ever see one of my songs with the original words italicized, it simply means I got sick of listening to the song over and over again and figgered I'd just post what I'd completed up to that point and come back and finish it up later, which I may or may not do.

"Speaking of Clinton, he is on the Letterman Show. How dare David have this piece of slime on his show. I'm not watching it though." Letterman's a fraternity brother of mine, and I used to watch his show regularly back in college and for a few years after I graduated; however, the more I've become sensitive to politics, I've really come to discard him and his humor. The guy's lost a lot of his edge and is extremely political correct, IMHO. And now that I can FReep or surf the net if I'm up at that hour, Letterman's sorta gone by the wayside."

I figured you would know what I meant about how the muse that sits on your shoulder whispering words just kind of flys away at the most inconvienient moments... sometimes it's more of a nuisance than a gift!

"...sometimes it's more of a nuisance than a gift!" LOL...tell me about it. I often have problems listening to the radio without reworking the words in my mind to transform almost every song I hear into an anti-Lib'ral and/or anti-Slick Willie ditty...it can get unnerving at times...)8^D!!
Then again, it's rarely boring inside my big ol' melonhead.

reworking the words I have a real problem with that-- a few years ago Emily & I were invited to a Christmas party at our Priest's house ( I was for some years a choir singer... ) and he, she, and I ended up leading the group in singing popular Christmas songs.
Only problem was, I had, ahem! reworded them into X-rated versions, and I had an awful time recalling the straight lyrics in time to sing the dam' things...

"I had, ahem! reworded them into X-rated versions, and I had an awful time recalling the straight lyrics in time to sing the dam' things..." BWAHAHAHA!! I've got a similar problem when I get together with my bandmembers to practice...when I sing my reworked lyrics, it throws them off becuz they start laughing, so I have to sing the originals to keep time and I have to have the original lyrics right in front me 'cuz my lyrics have pushed the originals outta my noggin.
The Trials and Travails of a Parodyist, I reckon...
