This is a small collection of links, organized into four consecutive categories:
1- A look back from now.
2- The 9-11 attack "as it went down, live..."
3- The aftermath.
4- Remembrance.
As with all such posts, there are links within links within links, and to fully remember and inform yourself, you need to follow them all- but be warned!
Some will take you to gruesome pictures and disturbing stories, so tread carefully.
I honestly believe that most Americans need to view these things, and never forget, or forgive, what was visited on defenseless and innocent people on that black day.
Use your own judgement, but look if you can.

'Jet terror plot was to mark 9/11 anniversary'-- gee, ya think so?
For the fifth anniversary of the 9/11 Islamic terrorist attacks, CNN.com is going to replay their coverage.
NEW YORK - CNN will mark the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks by replaying on the Internet the cable networks coverage of that days events.
Viewers can watch how events unfolded starting at 8:30 a.m., minutes before the first reports of an airplane hitting the World Trade Center. The feed will run in real time, as the network showed it five years ago, until midnight.
For the day, CNN will make its online video service, CNN Pipeline, available for free. Normally, viewers pay $2.95 a month or $24.95 a year for four separate video feeds.
Online viewers will be able to watch live reports of memorial services through one of the feeds. So that viewers wont accidentally stumble upon graphic footage from 2001, the replay feed will be covered with a notice instructing users to click only if they want to watch.
Our users may choose to view the stream of coverage from Sept. 11, 2001, or live coverage of memorial services at Ground Zero, or they may click through the numerous interactive elements on the site, said David Payne, senior vice president and general manager of CNN.com. They have the power to determine the best way for them to remember the anniversary.
It will be interesting to see if they replay this report from the Palestinian Authority, one of the only existing records of the celebrations that took place on that day, after Palestinians threatened news agencies into pulling all their photos and video from the wires.
"...the film clips of celebrations in Gaza on 9/11 cemented my opinion for good. There are no words that could ever rationalize that disgusting display by evil people." This LGF thread about the experiences of readers on September 11, 2001 is the most compelling, intense reading that I have ever experienced.

I'm going to watch to see if they sanitize it of the jumpers. #38 Canadian guy above said it was like people just pouring out of buildings, and literally, after a certain point there really were people just constantly falling through the sky. That was a major part of what got people's blood into a roiling boil, and I'll know (well, anyone who remembers watching CNN that day) immediately if they've sanitized the coverage or not. And I distinctly remember those motherf%ckers laughing and cheering and dancing in the streets when CNN showed it, so I'll definitely be looking for that part too (although I know Charles provides that video anyway). They only showed it a few times and then stopped. |
Evan Coyne Maloney has put together a seven-minute 9/11 video memorial edited from footage shot by eyewitness David Vogler. The video tells the story of September 11, 2001 through fire and ambulance radio calls, the 911 call of a trapped World Trade Center worker, and the lens of local resident who saw an explosion while walking to work.
As we wrote earlier, the Council on American Islamic Relations is attempting to whitewash the history of 9/11.
Disgracefully, so is the Democratic Party.
Heres the page at their web site where they solicit members to complain to ABC about the docudrama The Path to 9/11 (without having seen it): Keep Path to 9/11 Propaganda Film Off The Air. link: 235 comments
Following complaints, ABC tweaks its 9/11 mini-series--"Let me get this straight - the NY Times will run stories all day long exposing our secret tactics for tracking terrorists (against the wishes of the Bush Administration), but ABC will take a phone call from a liberal ex-President decide not to run certain scenes in a movie?" Clinton officials demand that ABC pull 9/11 miniseries
Clinton Demands ABC Fix 9/11 Movie or Pull It (just delicious)
Thanks again for all your effort, backhoe!
