An Iranian man cut off his seven- year-old daughter's head after suspecting she had been raped by her uncle, the Jomhuri-ye Eslami newspaper said on Sunday.
A post-mortem, however, showed the girl was still a virgin.
"The motive behind the killing was to defend my honor, fame, and dignity," the paper quoted the father as saying.
Rape often goes unreported in Iran where the conservative society sees it as bringing shame on the victim and family.
Local people have called for the man, who has been arrested, to be hanged, but under Iran's Islamic law only the father of the victim has the right to demand the death sentence.
The paper said the father, named as Khazir, has three wives.

If he had killed the uncle, it may have started a Blood Vendetta. I believe they consider that the other family's responsibility.
Nice place...isn't it? What a crime to bring children into such a wasteland.

Actually, it is accurate. What is "conservative" in Iran is not the same as what is "conservative" here.

Man Beheads Daughter... Obviously, he did it because Islam is a religion of piece(s).

You can't tell me the namby pamby peaceniks at Reuters don't enjoy using that word though, even if the difference is legit.

Frankly the whole Islamic legal system is like one big Monty Python skit. Just when you think you've heard the dumbest thing imaginable (until now it was the poor girls fleeing the burning building, but forced by Saud religious police to go back into the flames because they were immodestly dressed!), you read this and one's faith in humanity goes down just a little bit more.
In the immortal words of Darby Crash-- lets have a war, we need the space.

Iran
is a conservative nation. But what they happen to be 'conserving' are the tenets of Islam. We conservatives in America, on the other hand, are conserving the principles upon which our nation was founded. Quite a difference.
But you're right, the a$$holes at Reuters would like nothing better than to blur that distinction.

What they believe isn't relevant in this case, however. The prevailant cultural attitudes in Iran can be rightly called "conservative" and they could hardly be called "liberal" because conservatism implies a desire to keep with traditional practices. That Reuters might be (or is) biased in many cases does not make their use of the term in this instance any less valid.

Now how is it that when I read this title, I knew this wasn't done by an American dad, or even a dad in the center of animistic Africa, but by some *@(*#*in' Islamic nut job?

I knew before I even opened this thread that it must have been a muslim who did this deed.I did, too. It was my first thought when I saw the title. Could it be, just maybe, because they are the most barbaric people on Earth?

Three wives, kills his child in cold blood, and walks. All in the name of islam....
To: Dimensio
I agree with you there. I just think a lot of the people at Reuters are a bunch of f-ckwads.

It is time we got rid of Islam before it gets rid of the human race.I'd love to see the followers of "Mohammed" see the light of Truth in Jesus.
That would be ONE way of ending Islam, and the one I advocate.
Other ideas have merit as well.

There was another thread this morning, about a man in Jordan who shot his sister for suspecting she was not a virgin (turned out that she was). In any case, the family partied. It was the third such celebration (in that neighborhood) in a week.

Could it be, just maybe, because they are the most barbaric people on Earth? It's truly frightening that there are people on Earth that can make liberals look pious and civilized.
