gotta love slippery slopes, eh? First they let them take their guns, now knives. Pretty soon trees will be illegal, 'cause you can cut off a branch and make a shelliagh out of it.

I'm ashamed of my Scottish heritage! What a bunch of weenies!
To: WindMinstrel
You beat me to it. I was wondering what the lefties might feel more strongly about - cutting down all the trees or allowing such a ready made arsenal to remain. I guess they'll have to cut them all down, since it's for the children.

said the message about the danger of carrying knives must be driven home Uh, the danger is not "carrying a knife" it's the other guy carrying a knife. If you carried one, as a responsible person, you'd be safer.

That call was echoed by Victim Support Scotland which said knife attacks had a terrible effect on the victims. Well, duh.

Yeah, mine too. When did the Scotts stop having balls? Was it when the Brits said they couldn't wear kilts into battle anymore?
To: WindMinstrel
Maybe all the good Scots got killed or exported to America...only the cowards/weaklings got left behind.

Strathclyde Police Assistant Chief Constable Graeme Pearson, speaking for Acpos, said: "What we need to do is, in the years to come, make it as unacceptable for someone to carry a knife as it is now unacceptable to drink and drive. "Someone who walks the street with a knife should be seen as someone beyond the pale."
Maybe all men should have their fists amputated, just to be on the safe side.

Will they return to blunting the point of knives, as the Royal Navy used to do.
BP/Arco has banned pocket knives on their drilling locations after a "manuel labor" rig hand stabbed another. You now have to use a hacksaw blade to cut rope.

Next they will outlaw martial art training and put boxing under strict government control - one country (USSR)already tried all of it - did not help much.

Too bad Scottish citizens can't own guns so they could shoot the knife wielding criminals...

(USSR)already tried I talked to a lady from the Ukraine not too long ago. She said that when they tried this, they outlawed 'certain' martial arts, but not others, to the commoners.
The more effective arts, that might be used offensively (karate, taekwondo, etc) were only allowed to military or government personel. Judo was about the only martial art allowed to the commoners.

Well, if the problem is really reducing the number of knife attacks, there is an easy solution! Simply allow and encourage everyone to own and carry an automatic pistol. Any attacker would resist using his knife if he knew he was likely to get his haggis blown off. But, ah, yes, I do see the problem. An armed, self-confident populace is much tougher for an ultra-left wing, crypto-Stalinist bunch of bureaucrats and politicians to control.

No, No, just history repeating itself. The English made it illegal to carry weaponry if you weren't a nobleman a long time ago, but that idiocy was eventually squelched. Seems they want a go at it again...
To: SJackson
From our cold dead hands.
We must address the 'root causes' in regards to knives:
