I'll make this short and sweet. I have not seen evidence for a reason to invade Iraq or demand a regime change there.
Okay, Saddam gassed his own people twelve years ago or so. There have been multiple accusations of his development of weapons of mass destruction, including biological and chemical weapons development.
All the TV footage I see of Saddam Hussein is about 10 years old. Show me the evidence.

Fred, thanks for the thread. I think I know what you're asking, and agree with you that we should see the evidence before committing to war. I also agree with other posters that most of the evidence is classified. That said, the proper venue to weigh the evidence -- classified and not -- is before our elected representatives in Congress. I am very pleased that President Bush is going to make his case there. Thanks again...

I wonder if our army is ready for a two front war. I don't think our enemies will miss an opportunity if we attack Iraq. Heck there were only what, 14 planes available to defend the entire U.S. on 9/11.

"At the same time, Iran will not remain indifferent toward instability because if a country decides to overthrow another country's government, this will create a norm." Iran has its own internal problems with a population that is tired of the Mullahs. I see nothing in the article that is a compelling case against invasion of Iraq should the administration and congress decides our national interests require it. IMO Russia could care less if it is Saddam or a new government that pays them their money. Saddam's biggest problem will be in assembling an "army". The Gulf War is not that long ago and I don't think he will find many in his country that want to have another go at it.

If we have no evidence of Iraq involvement, how does invading Iraq prevent something in the future? It seems we have more evidence of Saudi (financial) involvement, why don't we take out Saudi Arabia? Huh? I was using "9/11" as a synonym of an attack on us. Re read my post #7. Now keep in mind that the condition of the end of the war in gulf was that Saddam let inspectors in. He kicked them out repeatedly. Now think back to what germany promised and didn't deliver and what that lead to..

Back at ya. Good night.

I thank you for your input. I agree...but I don't.
This national security stuff is for the birds. I want to know what the threat is. So do most of us. I don't need no stinkn' national security blanket.
I want to know what's going on out there. Thanks again.

Fred, your remark in #251 is about as low a blow as I've ever seen on FR. It calls for a
public apology or I will personally report you for abuse.
Since you're the one who demands irrefutable proof of reasons why Saddam deserves to continue breathing, I suggest that you come up with proof for why you would make such a dastardly wise crack at the daughter of an American hero, thus besmirching him, too.
I shall be waiting for the apology, made to DaughterOfAnIwoJimaVet.

"
I really don't know what I was thinking"
That makes two of us.
As much as I would love to believe you have reformed your heretofore[sp?] wicked mentality...
...I am fairly certain that when another racist J-E-W bashing thread pops up, you'll be there.

Please try to stay on topic. Thanks.
To: TheOtherOne
Exactly. You gave Fred the answer in post #2. As much as I live Freepers, I don't see any reason to read this thread any further.
To: VaBthang4
You too. Thanks.

Thank you, kayak.

Currently we're deployed in over 100 countries. By our own standards we can't fight more than 2.5 fronts.
Without recalling troops from other fronts and without the 6 month buildup we used in the Persian Gulf it would appear we aren't going in.

I think nothing. They just like to argue with you. Nothing will please them. Saddam could be sitting in the White House, and they still would be asking about what's the need to take him out. Sheesh, but these people are amazing!

I'll stay on topic when you do ..... and making slanderous remarks about patriotic Americans and their heroic fathers is about as far off-topic as you can get.
I'm still waiting for the apology .......
