I just don't get the Ann Coulter worship here. She is a twig, and not that attractive, but guys here, who obviously don't get out too much drool over anything she says.

She is flippant, rude, unoriginal, and she wouldn't get away with it (i.e. be employed), if a certain segment of the population didn't find her attractive. She offers nothing to the debate. I will read Krauthammer, Cal Thomas, George Will, thank you very much. Whenever Ann is on tv, I flip the station.

And you are free to do so. You need never read or hear her again, but my issue is that I should have the OPTION to listen/read/see her as often as I am allowed to listen/read/see her counterparts. It is not 'fair and balanced' to censor one side of an arguement.

The reason I like Ann, is not because she is the most intelligent of the conservative columnists, but because we finally have someone who is fighting the liberal columnists head to head. The "viciousness" that Ann displays is simply the same type of name-calling that the liberal press has been doing for years, but that for some reason republicans and conservatives have never really stooped to. Unfortunately, I believe that it is Ann's kind of writing that reaches the masses, not George Will or other more intelligent commentary. Ann is the only columnist who takes on the media head-to-head. We need more conservatives to follow suit. The reason we never seem to win is that we are never really in the fight. Now, we are to some extent, and that is why the liberals hate Ann so much.

Unoriginal??? Ann is very quick-witted and comes up with original lines on a whim. Ann fights a good fight and besides it is impossible to hit a slug below the belt.

Ann Coulter is a very good writer. Try writing something even vaguely amusing, and you'll see how hard it is. Ann Coulter writes amusing, outragous articles, and she knows it.

What makes her funny is the extent of her exaggeration, as well as the kernal of truth in her writing.

I don't find her attractive, but love reading her articles, because she is entertaining. In one sense you are correct; she, like Rush Limbaugh, is not a deep thinker, but she doesn't purport to be. She is a bomb thrower, one who points out the outragousness of the oppositions views through exaggeration and humor.

Both her admirers and her critics seem to forget this.

Im with you. I cant even take Ann in sporadic episodes. She so lacks confidence in her argument that she continuously feels the need to belittle others withwhom she disagrees. If Ann wasnt blonde, thin, and somewhat attractive to guys who arent getting any, she wouldnt be noticed.

Well now. I have read the entire post and don't find much to disagree with Ann about. She seems to be an R. Emmett Tyrrell, except she has balls.

But, she's not wrong.

I think you are missing, or devaluing, Ann's ability to reach the general populace. Your preffered writers, albeit intelligent and very talented, continually fail to affect political debate between non-intellectuals (which the majority of Americans are). Ann, however, with her biting, well researched, and plainly written style provides a large amount of information to the general conservative population (which it appears they are quite hungry for).

Additionally, it appears you disagree with the amount of "bite" she adds to her writing, however, I am glad she does it; liberal columnists to date are much worse, and liberal politicians are the PARADIGM of hypocrisy that deserve to be pilloried LOUDLY. Hell, they need to be pilloried. People actually believe some of these liberal asses are "honest", and that just can't be allowed to continue.
