I remember a photo showing the victims leaning out of windows, some standing on ledges. One woman was holding a baby out of a window. All dead - all gone.

This article does a good service in reminding those of us who promised never to forget what really happened. Most of these photos and videos were not shown after the first day or so after 9/11. Just like the footage of the Palestinians celebrating, some obiviously wanted these disturbing images destroyed in a memory hole.

Typical of our media -- they glorify violence all the rest of the time, but when we really need to see it, they censor it.

I agree, we do need to see it. Not really something I want to see, but the US needs to be reminded of what happened, and that if we do not agressively carry out the war on terrorism to ABSOLUTE victory, any one of us could be jumping the next time something like this happens.

"I would submit that they were people . . ."

Good point, but don't be too hard on the reporter, that would be an easy trap to fall into.

Bravos to USA Today for publishing this.

The Los Angeles office of Cantor Fitzgerald had a "squawk box" connection with the New York office that morning. People in LA listened on their office intercom to the last moments of their doomed New York colleagues.

One woman was holding a baby out of a window

There were no babies among the casualties.

Give the finger to the Alan Alda "healing" messages the media will inundate us with this week....the anniversary is the right time to rekindle our righteous anger. Make sure the world KNOWS WHO DID THIS- BARBARIANS OF RADICAL ISLAM.

I'm not so sure they are. One of their main reasons for not supporting us on Iraq is their morbid fear of "destabilization" (defined as the royal family's potential ouster after their own people get a look at a reformed, republican Iraq). I really think that one of the reasons we are so hot for Saddam's head on a pike is because it will constitute a "democracy bomb" dead-center in the Middle East, sort of like Berlin during the Cold War.

The Saudis will fall, and it will come entirely from within, with no blame to fall on us at all. Other Muslim nations (Iran and Syria, we're looking at YOU) would follow.

Quite an elegant concept, if you ask me. I'm sure things are going on deeply under the table to help bring it about. Personally, I would drink a toast of good Scotch while watching tape of the Saudi royal family hauled to the block and beheaded, followed by their vile mullahs.

Okay, maybe it's farfetched...but a variation on it worked during the Cold War.

This is what those of us who were there saw and will never forget.

It infuriates me when anyone says that we have no justification in hunting terrorists wherever they lurk. This was the most deadly attack on America in the country's history and the apologists on the left suggest that we have no business hunting terrorists.

I pray that President Bush takes this battle to the regimes that support terrorism and destroys them before the eyes of the whole world.

I pray often for all of you who saw, heard, touched, tasted, and smelled things that day that NO ONE should ever be exposed to.

May the Lord give you peace.

May we NEVER forget that day.

The story of the victims who jumped to their deaths is the most sensitive aspect of the Sept. 11 tragedy. Photographs of people falling to their deaths shocked the nation. Most newspapers and magazines ran only one or two photos, then published no more. USA TODAY ran one photo Nov. 16.

The peasants aren't qualified to interpret these photos.

I had lunch with someone who works frequently with the media last month. We were discussing the fact that the media had announced there were not going to re-play "shocking images" of September 11th, 2001.

As we threw about our ideas, our media friend exlaimed:

"The media do not re-play images that do nothing but shock and enflame negative passions!"

Just then, our waitress overheard us and said:

"Oh, you mean like the Rodney King video?"

I'm glad they published this. NEVER FORGET.

Me too, but I am wondering why it has taken almost a year to see a story like this.
