President Bush celebrated Labor Day in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania today as he spoke to members of the Carpenter's Union and attended a picnic. In his speech, the President focused on thanking American workers and on strengthening the country through compassion. He also used the occasion to stress the need for a cabinet-level department of homeland defense. Bush also toured the Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship Center on Neville Island. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

"So, this
really is from Al Gore's family tree? I
love my job!"

I should break down and actually get the book - to join the other 40 books piled high on my night stand. LOL - Forty books piled together ARE a nightstand!
I had to rearrange my bookcases to make two shelves available for the tomes that are "in progress," so they'd be easily accessible and findable at will.

Hi Rintense, and thanks as always!

I love the photos...just hope he doesn't wear this shirt in summer photos again. He looks hot. I've never understood why the handlers of these events don't erect temporary awnings to keep the direct sun off the President and the people who come to see him...probably would make it more difficult for the Secret Service guys, but infinitely more comfortable for everyone, especially those older folks. Maybe set up some misters or something, like they do at the zoo. LOL!

So many great pictures last night! I think I am partial to this one for some reason. Love the wrinkled shirt from all that sweat while in PA. LOL!

Fabulous pictures! My husband was in the Carpenter's Union here in Atlanta during the 80's. He always spoke out in support of President Reagan at meetings and conventions. He received a lot of boos and jeers, but never regretted doing it.
I think the Carpenter's Union has left the AFL-CIO. It's probably one of the most conservative unions now. But if I'm wrong, please correct me.

Horowitz has done an amazing turn around. It adds merit to his words, imho. And I know what you mean about books piled high on the nightstand...hehe....I get so tired of dusting um all off! One of these days.....

He looks so natural and at home with every American he poses with. He's so real.

I love these pictures, Rintense. He looks best when he's surrounded by common Americans, not Congresscritters or politicians! Thank you, thank you, thank you for these beautiful pictures.

She's ok. She's just tending to some family matters right now and she will be back. I am sure she would appreciate all of our prayers during this time. Of course she will be in my prayers .. and hope she is able to return soon ..
Sure do miss her

I also really liked the one you reposted at 145; he looks jaunty, springy, athletic, and happy.

it was good to know he was in Texas. Now he's about the country's business again You can be assured that he was about the country's business all the time he was in Texas, or gallavanting around on AF-1. SatCom keeps him in the loop no matter where he is. I suspect sometimes he wishes it didn't, but it does.
