Please pray for these kids that were assaulted in their home here last night. The victims were my son's 16 yo girlfriend and her younger sister and brother.
The youngest boy, Jimmy, is 12 and may not live and one of the girls, Cathy, may never speak again. Connie, my son's girlfriend, is 16 and is stable.
The attack was vicious and the perp has not been caught. The news link gives scant information other than to confirm the attack. I am assuming that they will update the story as new information is received.
Your prayers are appreciated very much.

I'm not understanding the details behind it..i take it the attacker had no ties to the family and that it was just random?
There are no words that can describe what I feel about this. Shock....fear that it could just happen to anyone at anytime. The fear that our homes are no longer the safe havens they once were. That there are no guarantees to freedom and safety in our own home?
Does anyone know where the parents were at the time?
Did the guy just sneak in, silently?

wrt:your #78...I went further, and gave my youngest my old cell phone with a $30 phone card so that when she leaves, she can call me at ANYTIME she wants, without worrying about "finding a phone", having .50cents, etc.. It also means that I can call her whenever I want no matter if she's riding a bike or at a friends house. It was just an extra level of safety precaution.
BUT...we can do everything in "our power and knowledge" and it still may not be enough.
I had 2 sets of parents (one from an upscale neighborhood and one from a lower end) who lied to me. (friends of my oldest daughter) They told me they would be home "supervising" the kids on weekend nights. WRONG...they went out and partied till 5am. What do ya do? I did the right things. I met them, got phone numbers, gave phone numbers...asked questions and basically put the parents on notice that I expected a level of trust between us.
I feel fortunate that with each child I grew wiser...but when ya not only have to battle peer pressure but parental neglect etc..., it's a battle.
Parents are "suppose" to have the same goals and same concerns. But not all do...and if the parents of our kids friends are not as concerned....oh my gosh....we just might never know. What is the answer?

I'm praying for you, and your son... I'm so sorry you both have to suffer like this.

Authorities say Martin worked with the children's father at Seven Lakes Heating and Air and was spending the night with the family. Police say Martin had been drinking heavily that night.OMG! This is horrible. My prayers go out to these children and their familiy. Our God is an awsome God, and he can heal these these little angels. I pray for a complete healing, and God's justice towrads the perp.

The parents were at home in the bed. The father is the one who called 911 while Connie held towels to her brother and sister's throat. The parents were in the home where they were supposed to be.
The man who did this was at a neighbor's house drinking. According to the family, the man (perp) and his father were both spending the night there. I will post the local news article from the Moore County paper ( The Pilot ) with more details when the web page is updated. It will be on 9/3 due to the holiday today.

My son is holding up extremely well. It is amazing to me that he is such a strong person. He has been a rock as has my nephew and his girlfriend ( Connie's best friend ). They have not left the hospital ( or so it seems ). I am very impressed with the level of maturity that these youth possess. His faith is his support as well as a close family and network of friends. If his actions thruoughout this are any indication of what kind of man he will become I am proud to say that I didn't do a bad job. :o)

Thank you for the info.... I'm glad the parents were there.

You have done an excellent job! Was the oldest girl, Connie, able to come home today? What is the latest news on this man and the rumours that the father could have been involved?
Love and prayers are with you, your son, Connie and her siblings and family of both of you.

Couple of answers to your questions.
#1. Most with a trachea doesn't usually speak, just the fact that they are whispering is really good.
#2. Anyone that has undergone anything that tramatic usually does not remember it. When you go into shock it is like the brain has an "erase" mode. Combined with the heavy meds that they are most likely on, the little bit of memory that they do have will be gone.
# 3. Working with EMS I have learned that they stress when they are dealing with children. They have told me repeatedly that it is like working on their own children when they work on any child, no matter how old, young or race, that child become "theirs" at the scene. Trust me they are checking on the status of "their kids" every time they go on a run to that hospital.
