I met Shawna in 1997. We were both pregnant and due within a month of each other. Five weeks after I had my daughter, Shawna gave birth to her daughter, Zoe Skye.

Eighteen months ago, symptoms prompted Shawna to seek medical care for Zoe. It was at that time that a cancerous brain tumor was discovered.

Zoe was treated with radiation therapy as well as surgery which successfully removed the tumor and she was declared to be in beginng of remission.

Yesterday, August 24, Zoe was seen by a neurologist again, after Shawna noticed some symptoms similiar to those seen over a year ago. A cat scan showed another tumor, this time much deeper within her brain, as well as an additional smaller one on her spine. Because of the accelerated speed of growth determined by comparing this cat-scan to her scan 4 months ago, the neurologist feels that this tumor also is malignant.

It goes without saying that Shawna is devestated beyond belief. Not to mention angry, frightned and confused. The neurology team is expected to devise Zoes' treatment plan in the morning, at which time there will be a more clear picture of what is happening.

Please pray for my friend, may she find the strength and courage she undoubtedly will need for her daughter in the coming weeks and months, and for Zoe as well, that she may endure her illness with strength, bravery and courage.
