NEW YORK -- A Virginia couple accused of having sex inside St. Patrick's Cathedral to earn prizes from a pair of radio shock jocks was heckled Wednesday as they left a Manhattan courthouse.

"God is mad at you!" shouted one angry man as the pair walked silently past. "You should be ashamed of yourselves!"

Brian Florence, 37, of Quantico, Va., and Loretta Lynn Harper, 35, of Alexandria, Va., were due back in court Oct. 2 to face charges of public lewdness.

I'm on a conservative web site because I am a real conservative. Not some liberal who wants to put rules and laws on everyone and get the government involved in everything. To get to my level of conservative you got to go back to Rome when Jesus was around. As for group coitus, many civilizations practiced, i.e., Hawaii, south pacific, Druids in Europe, etc. Doesn't bother me. I'm not sensitive to nonissues. How long has this sex thing been a problem for you?

Where is the love and understanding? Where is the tolerance? I don't even recognize your lewd laws because they are a perversion of human existence. This is serpent stuff and you don't recognize it. And as for God being displeased with nonmarital sex, that's a human creation. If you are capable of sex without injury and able to reproduce that is Gods gift to you and you don't need someones institutional blessing. It is a human right. If you want to abuse the gift and become a statistic that is also your right. I believe in freedom even if you are uncomfortable with what that really means like having the right to take your own life when you want.

If these people have a market they should have the right to exploit it. And as for sex laws, most, not all, but most are a violation of human rights.

Now you know what REAL conservatives are about. I'm calling you on the fact that your beliefs are not really conservative but a front for religious hypocrisy. It was a mistake to post this attempt at a Freeped pole and not have REAL conservatives vote "No" to the question. Most REAL conservatives would vote "NO" as evidenced above.

Our view is whatever floats your boat and doesn't land on us is fine. We want other people, and their views which result in the taking of liberties, to stay out of our lives. If I were on a jury I would not convict any of these people because I do not believe in my conscious that any law has been broken and I would move to have that law repealed.

You confuse conservatives with religion. I find most religion to be evil and no different than abusive government.

I am not a religious person at all. However, I feel it is abhorrent to mock the religion of those who believe. Having sex in "the House of God", to me, is a slap in the face and those jockeys ought to be bounced off the air. I see by the poll that I am in the minority on this.

Actually, GOD did make it a sin. It's part of the Ten Commandments : THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY. When that " law " was given to Moses, sexual congress, before marriage, was considered to be adultery. BTW, churches are places for whorship, prayer, and communing with GOD ... NOT whorehouses, lovenests, nor bagnios

You still don't get it. You were given paradise. Then humans got smart and have been miserable since heaping one law or ritual on top of another. I don't care what Jewish law set as an abomination and degrees of abomination which today we refer to as statistics in illness, death or abusive behavior. I'm saying that 20,000 years ago no one would have cared and most of us recognize this thing, even today, as just a stupid stunt.

Look at the poll!

I am not expressing hate towards you. More than anything, it's bemusement. It's rare when you see someone assert that God's love is expressed in something so base as a puerile stunt in a church, rather than His saving us all from eternal damnation.

Ok Ivan... Let me put this another way. You have a view of the world which I have not bought into. In your world you have a constructed view of what you believe to be good. You have all these rules like the religious sex laws which prevent STDs. You have one stack after another of rules of what you consider to be acceptible behavior. You fail to realize that the more constraints you make on behavior the more rebellious the push back from the other side.

People don't want to be told what to do anymore. Many of us are sick of it. If it takes sex in a church to get people to really think about what freedom is then this is a good thing.

Freedom means you have the right to get AIDs and die from it. Freedom means also that no one else should have to pay for your AIDs and that you should be allowed to die. Evolution should be allowed to continue. The weak should not always be protected. And if silly people have sex in church then its just silly people having sex in church.

And I'm having fun with a goat... wink, nod. :>)

Your rights end whether others begin. Such as the Church's property rights. If you want to have sex with someone on your own property, that's properly your own affair. However I don't insist on having the ability to have sex in your house, and if you tried it in mine, you'd find yourself thrown out on your ear.

People don't want to be told what to do anymore. Many of us are sick of it. If it takes sex in a church to get people to really think about what freedom is then this is a good thing.

This is a very childish definition of freedom. Freedom to you is to say bad words and stick things in your orifices in public. This is a bestial definition of freedom and it totally misses the importance of the kind of freedom that Western society represents: political liberty, to be self-governing, to be secure in one's property. By childishly insisting that the Church has to tolerate people misbehaving on its property, you are kicking the support away on the last of these important freedoms - i.e. ,to be secure in one's property. That liberty supercedes your want to be nothing more than an unthinking animal.

Freedom means you have the right to get AIDs and die from it. Freedom means also that no one else should have to pay for your AIDs and that you should be allowed to die. Evolution should be allowed to continue. The weak should not always be protected. And if silly people have sex in church then its just silly people having sex in church.

And for reasons previously stated if you do it on someone else's property, they should have the right to throw you out. That is at the very least.

And I'm having fun with a goat... wink, nod. :>)

Considering your attitudes, I am surprised the goat would deign to sleep with you.

Paradise is running around in the jungle subject to injury, disease, without modern medical treatment nor the comforts of industrial society and its improved standard of living?

Did you just fall out of an Earth Day summit or what?

You're having fun being a jerk, baiting others, and giggling to yourself. OTOH, I'm sitting here, wondering why you, such a case of arrested developement, imagines that he is clever, funny, and erudite. I already know why you're divorced. :-)

I'm married. What is this divorced stuff. Once again the intellectual debate degrades to a lower level. You folks just don't get it that other people have other values that are different than yours.

Besides you're getting wiped in the poll you were suppose to Freep.

The confusion rests in the fact that religious people think that they are conservatives when they are not. True conservatives are freedom lovers and this is often in direct conflict with religious DOGMA or social constructs.

The answer is "or what". What do I care if people get sick if I can make money off of it? What do I care about this extremist sexual behavior if I can make a buck? You're getting closer to the truth. :>)

Unfortunately, no, I do believe that that poster is serious. At first, I too thought that it might be a " put on"; however, after reading through some of his previous posts, on FR, I came to the conclusion, that he means what he says.

So what other posts did you read? What makes you think what I say is what I mean? And how do you know? Only I know what I really think. I'm probably a little more complicated than you might be aware. At least the United States Government thinks so... they have my profile IQ scores.

You seem to have confused me with some other animal.

Why does the AMA support homosexual sex? Why does the AMA support gun control? Why is radical sexual behavior encouraged?

Think outside the box.

Because they are dominated by left wingers who have the bestial view of freedom which I described.

Think outside the box.

Yeah, whatever. To indulge in outlandish conspiracy theories such as the "Doctors are Trying to Boost Their Paychecks" is to totally ignore the role of human stupidity in making policy.

Ivan,

The American medical industry turns 1.3 trillion dollars in revenue annually. It comprises one seventh of all US GNP. Drug companies spend $22,000 per doctor in the US each year in marketing.

Who makes the buck off of the extremist in the church pew?

Most autoimmune disorders are fraud. They are in fact subacute chronic stealth infection, many sexually transmitted. Examples are Reiter's syndrome, fibromyalgia, gout, carpal tunnel syndrome, Diabetes type II, peripheral neuropathy, Systemic Lupus Erythematosis, heart disease, cancer, hearing loss, gum disease, many forms of arthritis...

Who makes the buck off of the extremist in the church pew?

Having had many of these diseases, and having done the research, and having identified the pathogens and having guinea pigged my own body at extreme expense of close to $500,000 I think I would know a little more about this subject than you would. If you should spend the next five years of your life reviewing 15,000 medical documents and achieve 157 IQ in theoretical and abstract thought then you might know what I know.

Who makes the money from these ORGANIZED POLITICAL POSITIONS? Notice I said ORGANIZED.

Ivan,

Got a homework assignment for you. Read the entire document on Gulf War Syndrome at:

http://www.all-natural.com/riley.html

I have over 1,000 documents on various illnesses like this one but even better, from the PHds themselves saying not to treat patients with diseases they have identified.

Things like Reiter's Syndrome, seven associated pathogens, 75% successful treatment with antibiotics, conclusion... don't treat patient with antibiotics.

Who makes the buck off the extremist sex behavior in the church?

The problem is that concrete moral issues have been preempted by the liberal presumption of privacy, and the relentless extension of the liberal language of autonomy has removed a common moral framework from our society. Somewhere we have lost our hold on the sense that there is a moral order independent of our choices and wishes.

We can point to many suspects in history as the causes of this loss, but only their common character really matters. It is the fate of a liberal political tradition to progressively consume its own moral substance. By removing more and more of the controverted issues from the public sphere and placing them in the private realm, it conveys the inexorable sense that there is no common moral order. There are only the "values" we choose to apply to ourselves. All that matters is that we are legally right in asserting our rights claims, and the legal order is finally accepted as the only moral order.

The independent moral order has not been abolished, of course. The fact that pornographers pose as (moral) champions of the First Amendment may be the clearest evidence that we still have in our civil society some sense of morality, and within that inchoate germ of self-realization lies the best hope for a moral reawakening. The inescapability of an order of good and evil, which is not ours to command but by which we will eventually be measured, is a steady pressure on our individual consciences, and it is made manifest by the elaborateness of attempts to deny it.
