Roll over, Jerry Springer: The new ringmaster of afternoon TV sleaze will be Bill Clinton, if CBS has its way.
The one-time Tiffany Network and the impeached ex-presidents minions are negotiating, but aides say Clinton is "unlikely to commit himself to a daily talk show, the New York Times reported today.
"CBS executives consider the talks preliminary and say that a number of hurdles remain, including a significant difference over money. But these executives, as well as NBC executives who have talked with Mr. Clinton, said that he had offered assurances that under the right circumstances he would be the host of a talk show, the paper said.
But Hillary isnt the only thing Bill cant commit himself to. One aide pointed out that the former prez had a history of seeming interested in something but then backing out.

I'll watch Clinton's show long enough to find out who's buying advertising on it, then start a boycot that won't end for years.

He must be bored or dumb, because we all would attack him when the chance arose.

No freaking way! These TV airheads get paid (do they!) but they do woik for the money and more important and an insurmountable obstacle for our white trash would-be Elvis, they have to show up more or less on time, even though most of this stuff is taped. No freaking way!
One last "right circumstance" that the networks could not accept: the talk shows are generally about the guests not about the hosts! The "right circumstance" for Toon would be to have a forum to make daily one hour speeches.

You know it is interesting about the sort of advertisers that will happily and proudly pay for a chance to market their wholesome,
trustworthy,
good,
reliable,
life enriching products and services
on a program starring a disgraced,
impeached,
held in contempt of court,
lost his law license,
banned from presenting cases to the U.S. Supreme Court,
prodigious adulterer,
liar,
White House entertainer, coffee server and bed and breakfast host to gun runners, drug dealers, and anyone willing to pay $100,000 for an overnight slumber party,
filled pockets with loads of campaign cash from unsavory characters,
great presidential pardoner of Puerto Rican terrorists, tax evader--Marc Rich,
and had at least three recorded opportunities to have bin Laden's head presented to him on a platter,
and famed wag the dog bomber on pertinent Federal Grand Jury Testimony days of aspirin factory and empty tents with nothing but camel droppings
and really negligent dog owner ex-president Bill Clinton.
Frankly, it will be really interesting to see which companies step up to the plate to support this Cock 'n Bull Show.

Pathetic how the FOBs are desperate to get Bill in front of the camera again. They can't seem to grasp what David Brinkley concluded - Clinton is a stone cold bore and he can't afford to do the only thing that would make his show a success - spontaneous interaction with guests & viewers. They'd cut him a new arse every episode.
I hope CBS blows their whole wad on this farce. Bill'll flop worse'n Donawho.

... to see which companies ... According to Limbaugh today, it's the same guy (now at SeeBS) that pushed Clinton last year.
I can see nothing but legal problems for *ANY* publicly traded company would pay up front for Clinton, *ANY* money
management firm bought/held the stock in such a company, *ANY* insurance company that held the policies on the
directors, AND *ANY* advertisers.
A bonehead move of this type would disprove the saying about any publicity is good publicity.
That's not to mention the grief the FCC would suffer. (Would take the heat of WNEW...)
The reasons you mentioned above, combined with the damage that a Clinton gig wreaked on that financial firm alone would demand a psych and SEC exam of any executive that would waste corporate assets on a dubious endeavor.
Such incompetence would demand an immediate end to the ability of that corporate entity to hold public broadcast licenses.
I would have much less of a problem IF the compensation is based on advertising revenue. It would still be a
problem if a Clinton program could not equal the revenue from the previous show in that time slot.

And a smart publicly traded company would certainly put something very different up, on a different channel, in the same time slot......something perhaps more conservative.....?
