I don't see Bush saying he won't go after Saddam. Reuters wishful thinking.

Guess everyone expects President to give the time and date of the attack on Iraq to take out Sadaam. If anyone thinks that President Bush is going to back down because Brent Snowcroft and the guy from Germany along with other naysayers say he should, better think again!
If Brent Snowcroft's expertise was wanted by this Administration, he would be asked -- nope he has to go public so someone will pay attention to him. It is obvious he is not in the know.
This is President George W. Bush's not President George H.W. Bush's Administration. BTW, I don't remember Snowcroft much from the Gulf War -- seems to me that Cheney was the one outfront on the Gulf War!

Well, W is not gonna say "The bombing starts in five minutes..."Oh, Saddam'll know his ticket is about to get punched, but it'll happen when everyone is good and damn well ready. We all (including me) need to be patient.
There's plenty of good football coming up on the tube for the next few weeks. That'll hold ya until you can go home to watch the war on TV...

I did a FR search and did not see that this paricular article had been posted yet.Bush: Iraq Change in World Interest. This article is about as close as you can get. Some of the words are different though and the title is different.

I'm a patient man," he said. "We will look at all options and we will consider all technologies available to us, and diplomacy and intelligence. But one thing is for certain ... this administration agrees that Saddam Hussein is a threat." There is an old saying .. All good things come to those who wait
When the time is right and everything is in place .. then he'll give the order

This headline appears to be more smoke and spin than anything else; if I had written the byline based on what Bush actually said in the article, I would have written "Bush declares Saddam a threat; regime change in 'interest of the world'"
To: Momaw Nadon
A more accurate title would have been
"Bush Pours Cold Water on Talk of Imminent War with Iraq",
but this is Reuters, so accuracy is not a priority.
(Hmmm, could that be their new byline? LOL)

What Bush said today he has repeatedly said before....the press jumped the gun as usual and had us going to war any day now.
Maybe they ought to start paying attention to what Bush actually says instead of what they *think* he is saying.
We are not ready yet....patience.

And the big bad Bush moved on to the next country which was made of stone...he said, " I will huff and I will puff and I will blow your country down" but in the end he was tired from all the huffing and puffing so he decided not to blow the country up... :-)

President Bush on Wednesday brushed aside speculation about imminent military action against Iraq, saying he was a patient man Beware of the fury of the patient man.

I would highly doubt that action is immenent. First, Sept 22 is the election in Germany. The more conservative party is about to win and you don't know what an attack on Iraq would do to that election. We need a conservative victory in Germany to continue the other electoral victories in europe. So I doubt it would come before that. Second, Bush will not attack before consulting with congress and getting an authorization (he doesn't need it but it is political cya), congressional debate puts a lot of pressure on the Dems (the party of pacifists) in the upcoming elections. I would say anytime after november 5 it could start at any moment.

President Bush on Wednesday brushed aside speculation about imminent military action against Iraq, saying he was a patient man who would first consult with U.S. allies and Congress. Nothing new here. President Bush has been saying this for a long time. The NY Slime is spinning news the way they want it. Watch what actions Pres. Bush does around the world is a better indicator of intent. As of right now, hes getting his military ducks in a row.

There will be no frontal attack on Saddam Hussein in the near future, just as I have predicted here for the last six months. Those who think otherwise haven't been listening to the President. There is nothing we can do today to counter the threat Saddam communicated to us following 9-11 ("WE HAVE THIS ANTHRAX YOU CAN NOT STOP US"). There is *no way* Saddam would have executed an attack on the United States of the scale of 9-11 without cast-iron back-end security. He is homicidal, not suicidal.
But, there's more than one way to skin a cat and, as Bush likes to remind us, our President is a very patient man. Saddam has the initiative, and the advantage in warfare always starts out with the agressor. But the objective correlation of forces has already moved solidly against Saddam, and every day the noose tightens around his neck. In the long run, he will face the choice of a trial and imprisonment, or death and revenge. Better hope he lives up to his reputation as a "survivor."
To: Momaw Nadon
I am glad to see this. I have such a strong sense in my spirit that the time is not yet ripe for aggression regarding Iraq, but when it is, things will come together swimmingly. And if Bush acts wisely, once again his critics will be stuck with open mouths attracting flies.
To: Momaw Nadon
They also have expressed concern about the stability and viability of Iraq after Saddam's possible ouster. If Saddam chokes to death on a date pit tomorrow, how will that affect the "stability and viability of Iraq"? Basing a country's stability on the survival of one aging, unpopular dictator does not strike me as a more sensible policy than invasion, conquest and democratization, but that's Germany for you - they prefer dealing with tyrants.

This entire Iraq attack frenzy is media driven by the NYT and the Euro Trash. They are no closer to actually doing it then we were last month. We continue the psy ops and wait for a move. That is what we are doing.
Bush did not pour cold water on anything because he never heated it up to begin with.
The media did.
