Bush to Tour Fire Lines
08/16/2002
By AP Staff
President Bush will visit areas devastated by the Squires fire in Ruch next Thursday during a visit to Oregon that also will include a fund-raising dinner for Republican Senator Gordon Smith, the White House announced Friday.
Bush, who is taking a "working vacation" at his ranch in Waco, Texas, also plans stops in California, according to a schedule released by the president's office.
The president will deliver a speech on the importance of thinning forests to curb future wildfires, and has invited governors from Western states to join him during the visit, said a congressional source, who spoke on condition he would not be further identified.
Smith and Rep. Greg Walden, R-Ore., will join Bush during his stop near Medford. Both lawmakers have been strong advocates of managing forests. Many environmentalists have challenged Republican calls for thinning forests as efforts to undermine restrictions on logging.
From Medford, Bush will travel to Portland for a round-table discussion with community leaders from around the state, and a $1,000 per person reception for Smith, the congressional source said.
Bush made another visit to Portland in early January that was seen as an effort to bolster the reelection bid of Smith, who faces a challenge from Democratic Secretary of State Bill Bradbury. The president has not planned any further visits to Oregon, said the source.
Smith has raised $5.1 million in campaign funds for the November election and has no debt, according to campaign finance reports released last week.
From Portland, Bush was to fly to Stockton, Calif., according to the White House schedule.

I have said for years that we need to buy out a troubled tv net work and some major newspapers to do exactly what you are saying. So I agree with you.
The problem is that often what appears to be a minor league fishwrap is owned by a huge Rat controlled empire. Then we are talking about massive bucks. They will just close the doors on an operation when it becomes too much of a lost leader instead of selling it. Our local fish wrap is owned and controlled by the Pulitzers. The Santa Rosa Democrat is owned and controlled by those who own and control the NY Slimes. Black Agnes can fill us in on the ownership of the Oregonian and Oregon Live. They ain't small NW yokels.
Of course if we could buy one out, my advice would be to fire everyone from the janitors to the top dog editors/publishers. Each of these left wing fish wraps have a terrible left wing corporate culture. If you leave a single entity, they will spread that disease like a virus throughout the new company.
However, it needs to be done. This lack of a picture of Tree Scum Bag in even a minor league Oregon newspaper is proof of the news spiking that is done 24/7 by the rat controlled media.
In the meantime we can impact these left wing fish wraps individually. If every freeper cancelled their subscriptions to all left wing fishwraps and sent half of their monthly savings to Free Republic, we would have an incredible impact ont them.

You're welcome. This article is from a part of the magazine called "Eye on the Northwest". They don't have it on their web site.
Another small article from "Eye on the Northwest" is "Radical Blue Herons Spotted on Reed College Campus". It's about Reed college financially assisting the Blue Heron Earth First! chapter on it's campus. Quotes...
"The group (EF!) has an active chapter on the Reed campus, supported by college funds."
"Blue Heron EF! is listed on the Earth First! website as one of four Earth First! chapters in Oregon. Data obtained from Reed's Student Body Senate indicates that Blue Heron EF! received funds fron the College as recently as last semester."
If I were an alumni of Reed, I'd seriously rethink my contributions to the school. OTOH, I never would have attended Reed in the first place!;o)

Wyden was part of that Lars Larson interview. He was on the air with Newt in Medford, I believe.
However, someone should make out a couple of hundred copies of this Brainstorm interview with the helicopter service owner to hand out around the airport.
Here is a Brainstorm interview with two gentlemen who own helicopter fire fighting services. These interviews tell the terrible reality of dealing with the Floristry Service Clowns acting like Smokey the Bear:
Brainstorm link: (Link to Brainstorm article how the Floristry Service handicaps real firefighting)
Aunt B please get this to all of your friends who plan to be at that airport to counter the Green Weenies who will be there to keep things burning in Oregon.

Á?¾?shington and California all voted for Gore and are green socialist enclaves where the envirowhacos hug trees before they start forest fires. Even the Feds at the Forest Service, Fish and Wildlife and the Park Service are confirmed greenies
Pres. Bush had better have extra protection out there where these idiots are supreme. He has few friends in the three leftist States. I worry. Donahue was talking last week about how he thinks Bush will be assassinated. Is that just another RAT rumor?

Thanks Gramps! I hadn't seen that article.
Actually it was Greg Walden on with Newt and Lars, out of Portland.

Off subject:
What makes us responsible for what happens in every damn country in the world? I thought that's what our dues to the UN were for.
We need to get out of the UN and that way we could buy the individual countries support for what we do around the world instead of trying to sooth everyones feelings with a buck.

Walden/Wyden geez! :)
At least I got that their Names started with a W and ended with an N! Not bad for an old Kali Grampa!
Regardless, that brainstorm article printed out should help our side. We need to get this stuff out the guy and gal who are not on line with Free Republic.

The problem: The whacos are all heavily funded by the big Foundations like the Ford and Rockerfeller Foundations plus some other big $$$$ donors.. The envirocrazies like the Sierra Club also have huge amounts money available for lawyers and believe they are immune from law suits and other pressures. It would take some large monetary help to defeat them on a legal basis.
Worse, the teachers and administrators at all public schools are willing supporters and contributors to the green environmental philosophy. Just ask your kids to show you their "nature" books. Instant barf.

Here's some interesting info I saw in the August 02 Limbaugh newsletter:
BENCH SCORE: Who Picked The Judges
Johnson........1
Ford...........5
Nixon..........7
Carter........38
GW Bush.......59
Vacancies.....95 (Current vacancies)
Reagan.......142
Bush.........156
Clinton......359
Now, some of this can be ascribed to single vs. double terms. But the numbers are STILL mind-boggling. We have an ENORMOUS job ahead of us!

Try and get a confirmation of WHICH forests are included in the GOP 'daschle exemption' for all forests, too, OK? My info, which I haven't been able to confirm, is that Wyden limited the 'thinning for fire danger' to the east side of Oregon only. THANKS!

~~~~Strangely, the environmentalists aren't worried about the trees when they're burning to black stumps. They only protect the trees from capitalism -- providing jobs and products for human beings.~~~~
Yes........and you KNOW the enviros will block all the dead, yet standing, tree sales that the USFS will want to do AFTER the fires are out. This has happened MULTIPLE times here. The enviros would rather see the dead, standing trees rot and fall down and create......what? Yep.......the "pick-up-sticks" fuel load we have now.
