She's a successful politicial columnist, a rock-ribbed conservative Republican, the daughter of Philippino immigrants, and passionately opposed to the invasion of Illegal Aliens into our nation.
Michelle Malkin would be a blockbuster selection for President Bush as the new INS Chief, in the wake of the retirement announcement of current Chief James Ziglar.
Let the Democrats try and demagogue her.
What's his position on Illegals?
Buchanan would never be nominated, and will never pass the Senate. He's crossed the line with the Bush family, and is way too easy for the Dems to charicature.
I don't think Bush is all that fond of Tancredo, so I don't see him getting the nod. Someone else suggested Rick Santorum, but that's too dicey with the Senate up for grabs. We need those guys in Congress anyway.
Among her other assets, Malkin is the daughter of legal immigrants, and would be tough to bork as some angry, white male fringer.
Both are of equal interest to me.
I remember watching James Ziglar answering questions in front of the judiciary committee in the last 6 months and a demoRat was grilling him over the latest INS snafu and he asked Ziglar what was his experience to lead the INS and the nitwit said that he knew some immigrants. That was it, I nearly fell over in my chair. This was after 9-11 and this was the answer he gave. He is such an idiot and that is why the President appointed him to this job. Nobody inside the beltway wants the INS to function correctly. It is their little department of Racial division and they use it to pit American against each other and to flood our country with slave labor and illegal votes.
Michlle Malkin would be much more qualified then James Ziglar, at least we know she has a thinking, working brain.
That would be nice..we've got a Senate to win. Thanks to PhiKapMom, I'll be emailing Sensenbrenner on Monday.
She could accomplish wonders, just in us having her name up front and personal.
Many Bush defenders have blamed the lackluster performance of the INS on the current Chief.
Whomever Bush nominates, it will be indicative of the President's true sentiments regarding Illegal Aliens. This is an opportunity for him to shut his critics up.
It is likely that he will nominate someone pro-illegal immigration just to slap the face of 70% of the American public. Look for somebody out of the Chamber of Commerce, big business, the crowd that loves cheap labor; or, equally likely, someone "Hispanic", to pander to the "Hispanic" vote this fall.
Hoping that GWB or, in reality, Karl Rove will do the sensible political thing may be wishful thinking.
I have that fear as well.
But for now, I'm going to try and be as constructive as I can in this golden opportunity for the President to get his policies straight on the matter of Illegal Aliens.
If he fails, if our fears are realized, many eyes will be opened.
It's been said that those critical of President Bush, as I have been, never offer solutions.I'm suggesting one which I believe has merit. There is much that would be appealing about a Malkin nomination, to some rather disparate factions within the GOP.
Being reasonable, I'm willing to listen to other suggestions.
