BAGHDAD, Iraq, Aug 15, 2002 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Iraqi authorities have ordered Baghdad residents to stay put and warned that their money and property will be confiscated if they leave the city without permission, according to a well-informed source. The measures were taken, the source said, to prevent people fleeing in anticipation of a U.S. military strike. Copyright 2002 by United Press International.

Good point.. but it just depends.. if Saddam waits till our troops are in Iraq you think the US is going to say "nuke em"? Agreed that conditions could arise where they would use the bomb.. US pulls back and says to hell with it.. or Iraq plays their card to soon.. etc. But the odds of them letting loose the bomb have to be super small.

This is like Mayor Guillani on September 10, 2001 ordering World Trade Center workers to remain at their desk 24/7. I will never understand the mind of Arab/Islamist dictators/terrorists.

Saddam has few people who he trusts. If they are here, they're not there protecting his precious ass.

"They are not at war with us. They have shown no open agression on our forces."
With all due respect, this one of the stupidest comments I've ever read.
Iraq has fired on coalition aircraft 85 times so far this year. As I remember it, the no-fly zones were implemented with U.N. approval whatever they may think now. In any case, I don't care what the U.N. says about them. Saddam agreed to them in order to save his sorry ass in 1991. Based on this alone, the war is still on.
No one denies that his agents tried to assasinate a former president of the United States. Based on THIS alone, the war is still on.
Saddam violated the terms of his surrender when he kicked out the UNSCOM weapons inspectors. Based on THIS alone, the war is still on.
One would have to be a fool to conclude that Saddam had no hand in Sept. 11. Czech intelligence continues to insist that Mohammed Atta met with Iraqi officials in Prague. Why would a man planning such an attack risk everything by travelling to Europe (and then having to re-enter the U.S.) just to have a friendly conversation with an Iraqi official? Based on THIS alone, the war is still on.
Whether you like it or not.

If Insane baits the Israelis while US troops are in Iraq, Israel has two choices....
1. Join in the war conventionally, uninvited. Perhaps a quick air strike, for example.
2. Warn the US to pull troops out ASAP and nuke Baghdad.
We would be living in very interesting times.
To: Burr5
I know it seems nuts to say we are 'unprovoked'. LOL. But we are used to it. Iraq shooting at American planes is just another day, ho-hum. Iraq kicking out weapons inspectors is 'old news'. Sickening, isn't it?

I suppose that ought to reolve once and for all that if there are "innocent civilians" killed soon, who made sure that they were there, in harm's way.
Hello... losers? Islamists? Useful idiots?
Anyone?

Saddam has few people who he trusts. If they are here, they're not there protecting his precious ass.If you were Bush, and you had a war plan in place that would cost a few hundred soldiers' lives, would you be willing to wait another week to save a few dozen troops' lives? Are you so certain that Saddam could do nothing to us that you would take that chance?
I hate to sound cold. But it's all in the math. Time was on our side, up to a point. Now time is against us.

And of course AA guns will be parked in mosques and churches (yes, there are a few) Seldom in mosques...
However, we should target every mosque, and if any AA fire is seen coming from any churches, a mosque will be destroyed nearby every 15 minutes until the firing stops.

If Saddam will take that risk with us, he'll take the same risk earlier with the Israelis. And they will nuke him. I'm more worried about him handing the bugs off to Al Qaeda than about what he might do to us directly.

Harsh but true: if he uses up all of his chemical weapons trying to control his own people, he won't have them to use on US troops.

...freedom from such concerns and if we have to kill everyone else on the planet to rettain our lazy carefree weekends then so be it. To say nothing of saving all the spelling textbooks we can find.
They are badly needed by some college graduates...
rettain????

I wonder what the chances are, that Iraq will melt down from the inside without firing a shot?
Pretty good.....no?

I'm going to have to question your IQ.. did you not read what I said? Sigh.. regardless of your barbarian attitude i'll get you the benefit of the doubt and try to explain myself to you again. As I said previously.. I don't care about the UN either.. but world opinion is world opinion as I've stated before. I never said that I didn't want a war with them. I guess maybe inbetween my words you were able to pull out some hidden source code in which I was trying to manipulate anyone who read it with hynopic suggestions. I believe I was talking about the use of nukes but then again maybe I have some hidden agenda that even I don't know about.

If would be very interesting.. Simply put if the war is almost to a close and it's a final send off from Saddam.. what then? Israel can't hit a defeated army.. there is a million + 1 scenarios.. what I do agree with is using Israeli intellegience with our bombers to first strike everything in the country asap.. and if that means using Israeli warplanes to hit the west and south of the country while we hit the north and east(or something to this effect) fine with me.
