U.S. intelligence agencies spotted activity at an Iraqi factory last week that is increasing fears that Saddam Hussein is advancing his germ-weapons program, The Washington Times has learned.
A convoy of about 60 trucks was photographed by a U.S. spy satellite at a known biological weapons facility near Taji last week, according to U.S. intelligence officials.

Secret plans obtained by The Rockall Times show a device of devastating potency intended to numb the critical faculties of its victims and leave them defenceless against a barrage of black propaganda, hysteria, speculation and ill-informed TV punditry.
The terrifying weapon has been compared to the neutron bomb
The bomb - nicknamed "The Bogeyman" - packs a lethal cocktail of mass media into a container no bigger than a domestic dustbin. Once detonated, people in the blast area quickly succumb to the effects of the weapon. These include:
Ground zero: Anyone caught at the epicentre of the detonation instantly loses all critical faculties. The US and Britain become shining beacons of democracy justified in pursuing the war against terror by any means necessary - including terror. Victims immediately demand the use of nuclear weapons against anyone wearing a turban, and may hurl abuse at or assault Sikh corner-shop owners.
Up to 12 miles: The part of the victim's brain dedicated to remembering historical facts is directly affected by the blast. So, while those unaffected may, say, remember clearly that the CIA armed and trained Osama bin Laden and the Taliban to fight the Soviet Union, victims have no recollection whatsoever of this.
Up to 20 miles: Although people in this area may still be capable of independent thought after detonation, a follow-up attack of relentless news coverage backed with wave upon wave of mindlessly speculating TV pundits will force them to succumb within 24 to 48 hours. Failing this, the superbomb contains thousands of "spin bomblets", each one packed with a government pearl of wisdom as to "why we're fighting this war" etc, etc. The bomblets can bring waverers into line over an area the size of 4,300 football pitches.
Up to 30 miles: This far from the epicentre, the effects of the bomb may be mild. However, even those attempting to protect themselves and their families by cancelling the papers, turning off the TV and hiding in the shed will find that they are increasingly irritated by heavily bearded people.
A defence expert told The Rockall Times: "The West has been attempting to perfect this weapon for some years. Its effects are similar to the banned neutron bomb - which killed people and left buildings standing - except that it leaves both buildings and people standing. Only their intellects are destroyed, which they don't really need in a liberal democracy."

If that happens I'm sure we'll respond by harassing more of our own scientists.
The thought of this Administration responding in kind is laughable.
Thats the difference between Bush and Reagan.
I'm thinking West Nile Virus, what better way than to have a little mosquito do all the prepatory work. More of us have already been exposed to WNV than we realize, now, we're just waiting for part two. (Anyone scared yet?)
I had that same thought, nothing like a bit of Super-Size Whoop Ass symbolizm to boost American moral on day that might otherwise be reserved for mourning. "My Fellow Americans, our planes are over Saudi Arabia, Iraq & Iran dropping ordnance...... We can only dream..........
Anyway, she's in favor of appeasing the Arabs and pointing out to her that western appeasement of Hitler is what led to the destruction of Germany doesn't do any good.
I ask her what she's going to do if we let Saddam develop his bio weapons into a useable product and then deliver it to the Frankfurt Airport- she shrugs her shoulders. I sh!t you not, she just throws up her hands and shrugs her shoulders. It makes me want to grab the nearest sledgehammer and...
More recently Cohen has proposed ways to convert regular nuclear weapons to low-yield neutron weapons in a week. Whether any one acted on that I don't know.
The Bush administration has said it will not stand by and allow Iraq to develop such weapons. -- Does that mean it will sit? </sarcasm>
This Scott agrees that that Scott is an idiot.
However, 9/12 looks like a better date
Next new moon is 9/7 - I got no problem with that.
Do you try to lead squirrels and rabbits in the same logical manner?
Seriously, some people are followers and some are leaders. She is not a leader, and there are many that will never be cajoled or convinced to do the obviously logical thing. So don't torture yourself.
I used to have a girlfriend that tended to answer, "Oh nothing" when I asked her what she was thinking. I thought she just meant "nothing important." Only later did I realize that she really was in mental neutral most of the time!!! Some people just don't think!
Slowly the noose will tighten around sadam. Bush might be getting ready for a formal declaration. Then all the air/ground/sea space around Iraq will be sealed. Nothing goes in, nothing goes out. Air raids and commando/special forces raids aimed at taking out WMD sites and troop concentrations will then be carried out. UAV and cruise missles will be used on heavily defended targets.
Infantry and armoured forces will go in to mop up and arrest the leadership when the WMD's have been neutralized and the army has been reduced to nothing. Sadam will not be taken alive, as if we want him alive.
Depends on distance and whether or not they're sitting still or running and how badly I want to eat it... ;-)
I know what you mean though. Ever since I moved to the UK and observed the behaviour of sheep- lot's of sheep here- I've learned a lot about human nature.
Seriously though, you should have seen the look of horror on her face when I said that given Germany's size and wealth if we send 250,000 soldiers to the Gulf Region they (the Germans) should send 80,000 or no less than 60,000 (they're a quarter to a third of our size). "Ach du lieber Gott!" she says.
Our argument got me nowhere, but I think I scored some major points. She pointed out that this war on terrorism was "Our Affair" and that the Germans aren't involved or have a stake in it. I came back and reminded her that Germany was where the most dangerous terrorists go to seek shelter, money and training- all on the back of the German tax payer.
And I finally got to use it! We argued about gun control (because of their recent shooting "episode" they're tightening gun laws). She used the tack about how if people only have knives there is only so much damage they can do. I reminded her that on 9/11 several thousand people were slaughtered and the weapon was a handful of knives.
I scored a lot more goodies too.
A retired school teacher, she's an intelligent woman and she usually has the upper hand because when I get all worked up my German gets clumsy. But I think on this occasion arguing with me she experienced what some of her countrymen did back in the Forties when Patton came rolling through. She didn't bring sufficient ammo to the fight when she came this time. I imagine she'll think long and hard before she engages me in a political discussion again! Maybe it'll be a long time before her next visit- hehehehe! Inlaws are great aren't they?
The longer we wait the further along his WMD programs become and the greater threat he becomes to Americans and humans all over the world.
Hummmm the 7th huh?? .. could be a lucky number
