[Prodigal Son]

I was arguing with my mother in law (hehehe) who is over for a couple of weeks from Germany. The nature of our argument was about the Germans not wanting to help out in the war against Islam by helping us crush Saddam. She is basically in this mindset since WWII that all war is bad and should be avoided at all costs. She doesn't have much to say when I point out that if war could produce that pacifistic attitude in Germans it could also produce the same effect on the barbarous savages in the Middle East.

Anyway, she's in favor of appeasing the Arabs and pointing out to her that western appeasement of Hitler is what led to the destruction of Germany doesn't do any good.

I ask her what she's going to do if we let Saddam develop his bio weapons into a useable product and then deliver it to the Frankfurt Airport- she shrugs her shoulders. I sh!t you not, she just throws up her hands and shrugs her shoulders. It makes me want to grab the nearest sledgehammer and...

Do you try to lead squirrels and rabbits in the same logical manner?

Seriously, some people are followers and some are leaders. She is not a leader, and there are many that will never be cajoled or convinced to do the obviously logical thing. So don't torture yourself.

I used to have a girlfriend that tended to answer, "Oh nothing" when I asked her what she was thinking. I thought she just meant "nothing important." Only later did I realize that she really was in mental neutral most of the time!!! Some people just don't think!
