So, the cop should feel guilty now for continuing the chase? Was he to know that Matthews would come out firing?
You are shifting the blame here.
To: habs4ever
Has betty boop ever commented on the documents he filed with the court? The ones where he said that warrant service on him would be done at the server's peril?

They were crucifying Avila right here on FR, but I didn't see you anywhere around sticking up for him, imploring everybody to wait for the results of the investigation then. But then again, Avila wasn't an acquaintance of yours, either.
To: betty boop
From police statements, we know that one of the officers phoned higher command authority to ask whether they should break off the chase. What's this, using the police as a source? From police statements, we know Matthews drew his weapon and started blasting, too.
To: Poohbah
I don't think she has.Maybe she is gathering all her info before she has to comment on such a damning indictment of his state of mind.

Has betty boop ever commented on the documents he filed with the court? No; haven't seen or heard of them either.
To: betty boop
You haven't even heard of them, huh?
Wow. You've got an amazing set of blinders on.

The bottom line is that he was her pal. She agreed with him on a lot of his destructive, crackpot ideas, and now needs to suffer the heat for it. Good grief ... you sound like some crackpot Protestant in Salem accusing witches or some self-righteous Catholic Spaniard invoking your rights of Inquisition based on your personal interpretations of a person's associations or ideas.
Any change you're going to regain your senses and what's left of your intellect anytime soon, OPH?
The man is being described as a "constitutionalist" and "activist" who "mistrusted the government". By your specious reasoning, it appears everyone on this board is in for a world of hurt ... if not their own personal lynching like Betty Boop.

Wow. You've got an amazing set of blinders on. Not at all. It's simply a matter of, were there such documents, Don did not discuss them with me.

Not at all. It's simply a matter of, were there such documents, Don did not discuss them with me.They've been discussed extensively here on FR, and your dodge is that Don never discussed them with you.

They've been discussed extensively here on FR, and your dodge is that Don never discussed them with you. Yes they have, Poohbah -- from newspaper accounts and hearsay.
To: betty boop
Yup, that's the best you can do--accuse the newspapers of making this all up from hearsay. It's obviously some massive conspiracy to besmirch the good name of the sainted Don Matthews. </sarcasm>
Like I said, a remarkable set of blinders you're wearing.

But what about Don Matthews? What can you say about Don Matthews' actions? Was he justified in his actions when he took off from the cops at the traffic stop or not? Was he justified in pulling a weapon on police officers or not?
To: Poohbah
Yup, that's the best you can do--accuse the newspapers of making this all up from hearsay. It's obviously some massive conspiracy to besmirch the good name of the sainted Don Matthews. The question you asked me, Poohbah -- if I've gotten it right -- was what did I know about the matter from Don? I answered your question. I didn't accuse anybody of anything, I was stating the facts as I know them.
To: betty boop; one_particular_harbour
As is clearly the case with CJ's statement that I "agreed [with Don] on a lot of his destructive, crackpot ideas...." CJ hasn't got a clue what I think (obviously); and has even less information regarding what Don thought.
Perhaps you could point to my alleged quote.
