NEW STRONG EVIDENCE LINKS AUTISM TO VACCINE

Scientists have uncovered the strongest evidence yet that the three-in-one Measels-Mumps-Rubella(MMR) vaccine plays a clear role in the development of autism.

Earlier this year British expert Dr Andrew Wakefield and molecular pathologist Professor John O'Leary established a possible link between the measles virus, autism and a related bowel disorder. They found fragments of the measles virus from the MMR jab in the guts of autistic children who also suffer a rare form of bowel disease.

Now scientists at Utah State University, have reported finding a strong association between the MMR vaccine and an autoimmune reaction which is thought to play a role in autism.

The team led by Dr Vijendra Singh analysed blood samples from 125 autistic children and 92 children who did not have autism. Dr Singh, is an acknowledged expert with more than 20 years experience of immunology research.

In 75 of the 92 autistic children they found antibodies showing there had been an abnormal reaction to the measles component of the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine. Nine out of ten of those children were also positive for antibodies thought to be involved in autism.

These are incredible statistics. The antibodies attack the brain by targeting the basic building blocks of myelin, the insulating sheath that covers nerve fibres. This stops the nerves developing properly and may affect brain functions. Dr Singh has suggested that an abnormal immune response may be the root cause of many cases of autism.

None of the non-autistic children showed the unusual anti-measles response.

Not one. Not any. Zero. Nil. What a damming statistic. Read that sentence again and consider it well.

But incredibly, the UK Government's Chief Medical Officer and the British Medical Association, both still insist there is a wealth of scientific evidence that the triple jab is the safest way to protect children.

And Peter Lachmann, Emeritus Professor of Immunology at Cambridge, said that the conclusions drawn by Vijendra Singh and his team did not make for a direct link between MMR and autism.

“In my view the associations that Dr Singh makes do not follow. His hypothesis does not show causality; he is drawing unjustifiable conclusions from the antibody data he has collected. I do not think such conclusions can be drawn.”

As these comments reveal, the new evidence has the Government and the BMJ fighting a rearguard action to keep the lid on the vaccine/autism disaster.

Dr Singh's team report their findings in the latest issue of the Journal of Biomedical Science. The news of their findings is unreported as of this date in the US media.

They sensibly conclude: 'Stemming from this evidence, we suggest that an inappropriate antibody response to MMR, specifically the measles component thereof, might be related to pathogenesis of autism.'

In other words, you have no evidence that MMR causes autism, or that other vaccines cause SIDS, Shaken Baby Syndrome, or any other illness. So instead you have to take the conspiracy route.

Now I asked some specific questions in my previous post. Please answer them:

-Why would many countries (the UK, Finland, Sweden), no friend to big business, go along with this conspiracy?

-Why would EVERY researcher looking into this lie?

-Why would other drug companies, who could make money off a replacement vaccine, support the conspiracy?

-How could MMR be the cause of autiam when rates in the UK started going up in 1979 and MMR wasn't introduced until 1988?

-How can rates of autism in the US have shown a steady growth since the 80s and MMR vaccine rates remained steady?

I refused to let my PRE-TEENS get the HepB ....!!!

I am very suspicious of this push......believe it totally political.

My older brother is autistic. He's 46 and was diagnosed back when autism was very rare. In the eighth grade I did a science paper on autism, and I remember that factoid from that. Since my brother is the first-born male in our family, that just stuck in my head.

Since then, autism is diagnosed much more frequently. In fact, I wonder if it's not over diagnosed. I know that I've met many young people diagnosed with autism who don't seem to have any of the classic symptoms. I suspect that they've broadened the definition of autism since then.

Should We Be Afraid Of Vaccinations?

With Dr Marie Nonclerq, founder of the Antoine Béchamp Institute as president, and organised by Editions Déja, and with the participation of various associations, including La Ligue, the colloquium was trailered in our August 99 bulletin.

The national press, although well informed of the colloquium, gave it little attention. Nevertheless, it was a considerable success judging by the the size of the audience, the quality of the speakers, testimonies given and questions put. Twenty speakers, doctors, veterinarians, biologists, barristers, writers and representatives of French and European associations bore witnesss to their experiences, but it is not possible to report the colloquium in full within the limits of a bulletin.

However, we have selected some items of interest and we suggest you read the summary in book form available from our library.

Sylvie Simon, author of Vaccination - L'Overdose, opened and closed the colloquium, pointing out that a change in mental attitude could come only from the grass roots - it's no good waiting for others. In fact, perhaps we are seeing evidence of what she means since the french, almost unanimously, have rejected GMPs (genetically modified products). But the new vaccines we have been promised - hepatitis B is the first - are "genetic" vaccines, that's to say GMPs...

Michel Random, writer and philosopher, stressed the ensemble vision needed to ensure survival of the planet. People's hopes were diminishing, he said and he did not hesitate to mention a "general loss of immunity", associated as much with ecological problems as with erroneous medical attitudes. These errors were linked to the 19th-century scientific culture and must be corrected by taking account of life's complexity. All the speakers shared this holistic view, so different from that of orthodox medicine, where each problem is studied separately and each symptom treated with an anti - something which is ultimately anti-life (Dr Gardenal).

The legend which has been created around the works of Pasteur and which has overshadowed the great Antoine Béchamp has been highlighted yet again, this time by Drs Gardenal and Ancelet. This year the latter has published Pour en Finir avec Pasteur (To Finish with Pasteur). Each of us is unique (Drs Gardenal and Tarte) but vaccine side effects are not accounted. Moreover, the results of isotherapies (or "moratherapy"), as described by Dr Banos, confirm their reality in homeopathy.

Dr Sturer of Montpellier has astonished us by the number of cases which he has sent to the Pharmacovigilance Centre and which have not been accorded attention - and he contends that one is entitled to ask questions when exceptional pathologies appear after vaccination campaigns. We understand why "official" statistics favour vaccinations and how fear can be manipulated to infantilise the masses in order that vaccination programmes may continue, whilst "this dogma has never integrated the sciences" (Dr Didier Tarte). Pasteur's work has largely been overtaken these last fifty years by modern discoveries on DNA, viruses, immunity and the psychological and social causes of disease. We have come a long way from the idea of "one microbe one disease", but to change this paradigm is to take control of your life and the pharmaceutical companies are not too interested in that...

Dr Philippe Bry, paediatrist of Fondettes, denounced current polyvaccination of infants, which upsets the immune system whilst it is immature. (Japan has postponed primary vaccinations until the age of two years.) He presented evidence showing the weakening effect on the immune system in terms of collapse of T4/T8 relationships (two types of lymphocytes - white corpuscles - involved in the immune process). He decried the casuistry of describing Chimpanzee Coryza Agent (CCA), discovered in 1956, as Respiratory Syncitial Virus (RSV). Could it be a cover-up for the chimp vaccines? He recalled that the first polio vaccines of the 40s were contaminated with SV40, a virus of green monkeys, whose kidneys were used for culturing the vaccine.

Michel Georget, biologist, provided evidence from a very detailed study of routine disinformation used to maintain conventional attitudes to vaccination, thereby discouraging individual reflection on the subject.

Disinformation by omission:

One "forgets" that it is medical practice that increased diseases like polio, as in the 40s and 50s, by tonsillitis and other interventions (as shown in Australia and England). The recent example of hepatitis B and C infection through blood transfusion comes to mind in this context.

We "forget" that in Holland TB disappeared without BCG; that Czechoslovakia has reduced the number of tetanus cases solely by hygienic measures; that cases of diseases for which we vaccinate have increased (e.g. 50 per cent increase mostly from polio in 1958 when the vaccine was made compulsory in 1957); that there are side effects - Sweden and Finland estimated one osteitis per 3500 BCG vaccinees - five times higher in infant vaccinees than in infant non-vaccinees, whereas, during the same period, France quoted one per 2700000 cases, i.e. practically 700 times lower. ( M F Joet, President of ALIS, had an analogous example as regards smallpox vaccination's side effects: one encephalitis per 11000 vaccinations in Germany compared with 800000 in France.)

(Dr. Vercoutère cited the example of the whooping cough vaccine, suspended in 1992 by the British who experienced one case of meningitis per 1000 vaccinations, while in France there was only 1 in 92000...)

Disinformation by rigging:

Dr Roland F Maes of Strasbourg, a bacteriologist and immunologist, supplied Dr Georget with precise figures on TB, on which he is a "hyperspecialist". As soon as the study moves away from the national scene the statements change, showing that in France TB is a political problem... Furthermore, information from the Necker hospital raises the issue of research tending to show that "BCG does not induce resistance in the vaccinated."

Dr Jean-Pierre Willem, President of Médecins aux Pieds Nus and assistant to Dr Scweitzer, has worked for Médecins Sans Frontières and come to understand, through contact with other cultures, the importance of restoring man to a milieu in which "traditonal medicine" reflects the people's intelligence. As his medical measures began to diverge from the "official truth," so he found himself progressively censured by the media and thereby constrained to create his own movement to act as it considered best in the interests of the various peoples. He elaborated the consequences of massive vaccination campaigns around the world. In his view the homeopathic doctor is best placed to see the damage to health caused by vaccinations.

Madame Colette Leich-Welter, PHD, Germany, has undertaken personal research linking SIDS to vaccine stress (vide the work of Vera Scheibner), ill treatment, lack of breast feeding, and sleeping babies on their fronts. She has provided us with papers on these topics.

Dr Jacques Lacaze, Lievin, who initiated the moratorium on hepatitis-B vaccination, was unable to attend but sent words of support.

F Joet, President of ALIS, insisted on the availability of an exhaustive list of vaccine side effects. Medicines ackowledged to be iatrogenic are withdrawn from sale but for vaccines that step seems to be unthinkable. If doctors were to inform patients on side effects to get their enlightened consent, as Articles 35 and 36 of their ethics code require, some real progress would be made.

We must break the wall of silence by demanding the compensation that vaccine victims have a right to. In Britain 4012 claims have been made, with compensation paid in 890 of them whereas, in France, the figures are 51 and 37 in the years 80-98. (For 98 there are 34 civil actions in progress in respect of the hepatitis-B vaccination in France.)

J M Mora, President of La Ligue pour la Liberté des Vaccinations, the first association in France to demand freedom from imposition of vaccinations, emphasised the importance of complete and objective information for "consumers" of vaccines, as for doctors and politicians. Example: for a trip abroad the traveller is required by the WHO to have only one vaccination (for yellow fever and only for certain countries). Compare that with the information he will get in France, where profits are made from updating ALL his vaccinations.

The League is not actually opposed to vaccination. It fights abuse and disinformation. Many doctors do not agree with the current policy on vaccination - they see the consequences every day. They should be free to care for their patients and to preserve their health according to competence and expertise.

To our requirement of full freedom of choice on vaccination should be added acknowledgment of a conscience clause, which obtains in certain states and which constitutes clear and legal refusal of vaccinations. This clause exists for french soldiers (and no-one has gainsaid it); so why not for the rest of us?

Marinello Leo, President of the Italian association for freedom of choice on vaccination, made it plain that her country has the same problems, to the point where a demonstration is planned for Milan, 11 November 1999. She recalled that the ex-Minister of Health was serving several years in prison for submitting to bribery by SmithKline Beecham in connection with the introduction of the hepatitis-B vaccination in Italy. She mentioned imposition of fines and enforced suspension of parental authority where individuals had sought to avoid vaccinatlon of their offspring - and where France had been found guilty of violation of the rights of man on 83 occasions, Italy had contravened them on 102...

Barrister Philippe Autrive spoke of some ideas on man's rights over his own body and on individual choice of therapy.

Firstly, he recognised that patients had been "infantilised" for centuries and that this situation would not yield to change overnight. We would need to call on the European Commission as regards the rights of man for a change of mentality, and to call for free and clear consent as has been recommended. He acknowledged, however, that at present the patient was left with little choice.

Secondly, global companies scorned the rights of man and a veritable inquisition was maintained by the medical powers since anything they choose not to accept is illegal. Of relevance here is the 19 December 1957 decision of the Assizes, which agreed the use of a product accepted elsewhere. But the ignorance of the individual makes him an eternal patient.

Dr Vercoutère, barred from his profession ten years ago by the doctors' council, could only confirm with examples all the criticisms already made. He referred to the Glucksman philosophy of civil disobedience in certain situations, an idea he would like to see extended into the medical arena.

Questions put to the speakers came from vaccine victims in search of help - nurses, mothers, paediatrists (of whom several were present - congratulations). The speakers, according to speciality, answered as directly as possible, and explained their reasoning where necessary. Methods of homeopathic cleansing were noted - isotherapy ( Dr Gardenal); Dr Elmiger's sequential therapy (Dr P Sturer); and moratherapy (Dr A Banos). Despite the good results obtained, these treatments are neither accepted nor reimbursed, and vaccines continue to leave a sorry trail.

Conclusion: To get out of this impasse needs strong user associations, uniting victims and all those who are aware, are in doubt or seek another route. Thus the problem would be forced out into the open. As has happened elsewhere, we will have to take to the law for compensation. When the courts have decided on thousands of cases the national press will no longer be able to remain silent.

a lot of people are questioning vaccinations...

Considering EVERY major health organization in the developed world (AMA, CDC, WHO, british medical association, Canadian Medical Association, etc), supports immunization, and those organizations represent "a lot" of people, you comment rings hollow.

And I'm still waiting for you to answer those questions.

I suspect that they've broadened the definition of autism since then.

I'm sure they have. Asperger Syndrome has only been diagnosed since the 80's. It is thought to be a high functioning form of autism. The main clinical features include
lack of empathy
naive, inappropriate, one sided interaction
little or no ability to form friendships
pedantic, repetitive speech
poor nonverbal communication
intense absorbtion in certain subjects
clumsy and ill coordinated movements and odd postures

We have been aware of our son's various difficulties for years, and have consulted with numerous professionals. But he was only diagnosed a few months ago.

I'm glad that you found a good program for him. I hope that he continues to progress well.

My older brother was diagnosed before measles shots, so that wasn't a factor for him, unless actually having the measles would have given him the same antibodies, since he had measles three times, as did my sister and I.

Back when Terry was diagnosed -- more than 40 years ago -- they knew next to nothing about autism. The doctors encouraged my parents to put him in an institution! He's severely autistic, can't speak at all, and even today, testing puts him at a toddler level, mentally.

I remember the tantrums very well though. He used to be a handful for my poor mother, who had two other young children. Just a word of encouragement, Terry grew up to be a very cooperative and extremely happy person. He grew out of the trantrums. He'll never be "normal," but he is well adjusted and physically very strong and healthy.

Thankfully, my parents decided against the institution idea and we found out several years later that the institution that was recommended was one of the ones in Texas that was discovered to be horribly abusing their patients.

Also, back then the popular theory as to what caused autism was that it was the mother's fault! They claimed that the mothers were cold and didn't provide enough love and nurturing to their children, which hurt my mother deeply. I can attest to the fact that nothing could have been further from the truth about my mom.

I often wonder what would have happened if the treatment options available today had been available to Terry when he was a child. There was nothing. He was probably 10 years old before he went to school at all, and he only went for a few years. There were no other autistic children at all in his classes, and these were "special" schools. They were nothing more, really, than day care for retarded children.

Actually, the "demand" for this vaccine was created almost entirely by the pharmaceutical companies who manage to get billions in US taxpayer dollars gratis.

Be careful when you go outside. Lightning will be attracted to your tin foil hat.

Years ago, parents vaccinated their children against measles and mumps by letting their children be exposed to the diseases.

I had a neighbor whose son was deaf due to measles. Not a good trade off for future immunity.

The autism increase: research needed on the vaccine connection

Bernard Rimland, Ph.D.
Autism Research Institute
4182 Adams Avenue
San Diego, CA 92116

Growing concerns about vaccines, and their possible connection to autism, have prompted the United States Congress to hold hearings on the issue of vaccine safety. Following is an excerpt from the testimony I presented before the House Committee on Government Reform on April 6, 2000:

My son Mark was born in 1956. It was obvious from birth that this perfectly normal-looking infant had something drastically wrong with him. I had earned my Ph.D. in experimental psychology three years earlier and had never encountered the word “autism.” Our pediatrician, with 35 years of experience, had never heard of autism either. Autism was extremely rare then-it is extremely common now.

Some supposed experts will tell you that the increase reflects only greater awareness. That is nonsense. Any pediatrician, teacher, or school official with 20 or more years experience will confirm what the studies tell us: there is a real increase in autism, and the numbers are huge and growing.

Soon after my textbook on autism was published in 1964, I began to hear from other parents. Many parents told me that their children were normal until getting a triple vaccine-the DPT shot. In 1965, I began systematically collecting data on the symptoms and possible causes of autism. Thirty-three years ago, in 1967, I began querying the parents specifically about the child’s response to the DPT shot. Many had reported marked deterioration.

During the past few years, the Autism Research Institute has been flooded with an upsurge in pleas for help from parents throughout the world-from wherever the World Health Organization vaccine guidelines are followed. The majority of these parents say their children were normal until getting the MMR-another triple vaccine.

Let me dispel several myths promoted by those who deny the autism-vaccine connection:

1. They claim the vaccines are safe, but physicians are indoctrinated to discredit claims of harm and are not trained to recognize nor required to report any adverse reactions. From 90% to 99% of the adverse reactions reported to doctors are never reported by those doctors to the government’s extremely lax Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, known as the VAERS.

2. They say that the suspected linkage between the MMR vaccination and autism has been disproved by a study conducted by Brent Taylor and his colleagues in London, and published last year in The Lancet. The Taylor study is seriously flawed in many ways, as has been noted in a number of letters to the editor of The Lancet and in a number of additional letters on the subject which have been posted on the Internet. It was subject to strong attack at a recent meeting of the British Statistical Society. I have been a full-time researcher my entire professional life, for almost 50 years, and I respectfully asked Dr. Taylor for a copy of the data so that I could reanalyze them. He refused this ordinary professional courtesy, and I have subsequently written to the editor of The Lancet requesting that an impartial committee be asked to reexamine Dr. Taylor’s statistical methods. If he refuses again, I urged The Lancet to retract his paper.

3. They say that autism has a large genetic component, and therefore vaccines must play a minimal role, if any, in the causation of autism. My book Infantile Autism, published in 1964, was the first systematic attempt to marshal the evidence for genetics as a contributing cause of autism, so I am certainly not hostile to that idea. However, genes do not begin to account for the huge increase in the incidence of autism, ranging from 250% to 500% in various places. I might add that we have just reviewed all of the recent genetic studies for the next issue of the Autism Research Review International, which I edit. The results are spectacularly inconsistent. The best guess is that there are at least 20 different genes involved in the causation of autism, with none playing a major role. Gene therapy is decades away, and may be infeasible.

4. They claim that autism naturally occurs at about 18 months, when the MMR is routinely given, so the association is merely coincidental and not causal. But the onset of autism at 18 months is a recent development. Autism starting at 18 months rose very sharply in the mid-1980s, when the MMR vaccine came into wide use. A coincidence? Hardly! (See graph below.)

Autism is not the only severe chronic illness which has reached epidemic proportions as the number of (highly profitable) vaccines has rapidly increased. Children now receive 33 vaccines before they enter school-a huge increase. The vaccines contain not only live viruses but also very significant amounts of highly toxic substances such as mercury, aluminum, and formaldehyde. Could this be the reason for the upsurge in autism, ADHD, asthma, arthritis, Crohn’s disease, lupus, and other chronic disorders?

I am bitterly disappointed with the medical establishment’s dismal record with regard to autism over the past 60 years. The medical schools, as well as the governmental agencies, have consistently supported outmoded, unproven, and even disproven theories, and have actively opposed the most promising approaches for the treatment of autism. They supported the psychoanalytically-based theories which held the mother responsible for causing autism through her supposedly hostile attitude toward the child. They opposed the use of behavior modification, the most uniformly beneficial treatment for autism, by claiming that it neglected the deep-seated emotional blocks that were at the root of autism. They have ignored, and continue to ignore, the long series of studies conducted both in the U.S. and Europe showing that the elimination of foods containing gluten and casein from the diet brings about marked improvement in many autistic children. They have consistently ignored the series of 18 consecutive studies, conducted by researchers in six countries, which showed that almost half of all autistic children and adults respond favorably to high doses of vitamin B6 and magnesium, with no adverse effects. Eleven of these studies were double-blind placebo crossover experiments. There is no drug that comes close to B6/magnesium in terms of safety, efficacy, and positive research findings. Now they deny the autism epidemic, and the role of vaccines.

The most interesting questions are not being asked. Why does the majority of the population survive such epidemics as autism, the bubonic plague, Legionnaire’s disease, polio, and AIDS, while relatively few succumb? The answer is that the survivors have a healthy, effective immune system. Would enhancing the immune system decrease the likelihood of adverse reactions to vaccines (including the anthrax vaccine-DOD please note)? Very probably.

It is well known that the immune system must be adequately supplied with many nutrients if it is to function properly, including especially vitamins A, C, E, B6, and a number of minerals, including zinc, magnesium, and selenium. Nutritional levels of these substances are not only harmless, they are essential to good health. Since people do not change their diets readily, I believe that foods should be fortified with these nutrients-especially foods that will be consumed by infants and children. Research along these lines-as well as the safety of the vaccines-is desperately needed.

As a parent and a researcher, I believe there should be a marked redirection of effort and funding, along the lines suggested above.

U.S. Cases: Autistic children who behaved normally
before 18 months vs. those with no normal period

Medical officials claim that "since autism starts at about 18 months, when the MMR shot is typically given, the parents are mistaken in their belief that the MMR caused their children's autism.

However, data collected by the ARI since the 1960s reveal that the onset of autism at 18 months is a recent development. Parent reports show that from the 1960s through the early 1980s, children autistic from birth outnumbered by 2 to 1 those with onset at 18 months. Starting in the early 1980s, when the MMR triple vaccine was introduced, the picture has reversed; now the "onset at 18 months" children outnumber the "onset at birth" by 2 to 1.

Hi Seowulf,

Yes, you're right. Austistic people are definitely NOT stupid. My brother is in the same age range as yours, and they sound very much alike.

My bother is 46, doesn't speak at all, but certainly can communicate, in very creative ways. His IQ is very high. I don't know what he tested at, but he is quite smart. I read somewhere that high IQs tend to run in not only autistic people but in their siblings. I also was taught that autism occurs mainly in first-born males, but apparently that's no longer correct, so I don't know.

Terry taught himself to read, because of his fascination with the TV. He was spelling with his blocks when he was 3 years old. He uses his TV Guides to look up the spellings of words.

Anyway, if you ever want to discuss our brothers, just freepmail me. I rarely have the opportunity to talk to other people with autistic loved ones in that age range because it was so rare back then. It would be interesting to compare notes.

Autism is most commonly found in first-born males. I'm no scientist, but that seems to contradict that it is caused by a reaction to a vaccine. Why? Devil's advocate here. Wouldn't a first-born be more likely to receive early vaccinations than later children. (I know mine was.)

That's what I learned while doing a research paper years and years ago on autism. That may not be the current theory, but I do tend to believe that it is probably something that they're born with.

That list reads like a lot of FReepers. While that starts of as a joke (in poor taste i'll admit, but a joke all the same) that brings up one of my major problems with the last decade or two of psychiatric thought. The profession has gotten very syndrome happy and the lists of symptoms of many of the more recent symptoms is starting to look like a shopping list of "not quite normal" behavior. Seriously take that list and drop in on any of the tech, crevo or WOD threads. Then there's always the ADD list (when I was a kid the only ones that didn't show 5 or 6 "symptoms" of ADD were the creepy quiet kids many of whom are probably serial killers now). It even goes outside of psychiatry, anybody familiar with the BMI knows how they've been changing the definition of obese to include more people every few years.

I have to wonder how many of these epidemics are just a matter of redefining bad behavior as a syndrome. Please don't think I'm belittling your plight, nothing could be further from my desires. I've just grown very wary of the modern age of epidemics. Prayer's for your son.

"That is simply because stupid people were once allowed to kill themselves in spectacularly stupid ways. Now they breed like rats, living off government programs that encourage more children, producing children even more stupid than themselves."

That may explain how you got here.....but I don't see how it relates to autism.

Before anybody gets excited, people should look into the research of conservative author Thomas Sowell, who uncovered astounding figures on the overdiagnoses of autism, especially among boys.

The Einstein Syndrome

Late Talking Children - Bright Children Who Talk Late

With the rush to force diagnoses like ADHD on boys and dispense Ritalin at the behest of teachers looking for a cure for boyhood, faulty diagnoses of autism are being found as a convenient way to sidetrack yet more boys. While autism is real, there is massive evidence that it is wildly overdiagnosed and held to shifting standards among counselors, therapists, and physicians.

If you need info on autism, and trust the mind of Dr. Sowell, you owe it to yourself to read these books.

I knew I would catch it for that comment. But I believe that stupid people are being diagnosed with anything and everything just so the schools can get government money. Most of the children in the special ed classes are NOT "learning disabled", they are simply not smart. While it is noble to educate them as much as they are able, it is NOT noble to dumb down the rest of the class so that they don't have hurt feelings.

Yes, and if these people want to believe in a flat Earth, they can. I'm just surprised that Free Republic allows these kinds of erroneous reports to be continually posted (wasting the time of physicians and medical people from across the country). Jim may want to begin killing these threads because they're a waste of bandwidth.
