National Park Service Ranger Killed in Shooting Near U.S.-Mexico Border

The Associated Press

TUCSON, Ariz. Aug. 9 — A National Park Service ranger was killed Friday in a shootout with suspected smugglers near the U.S.-Mexico border, authorities said.

The ranger was responding, along with the U.S. Border Patrol, to a call for assistance from Mexican authorities who were chasing two men in a vehicle that crossed the border into the Organ Pipe National Monument.

Authorities were still investigating what happened, and it wasn't immediately clear why the men were being chased.

Dale Thompson, chief park ranger at the monument, said the shootout took place about 100 yards north of the border in a rugged stretch of desert known for both drug and people smuggling.

The ranger's identity wasn't released.

8. Our culture is being replaced by the Mexican culture as radio, televison, cable, business, education, print media and other services go Spanish.

I was channel surfing recently. Finally, I found something worth watching - "The Right Stuff".

I tuned into a scene where the technicians were in an international monitoring station. They actors were speaking French. Then they went to the capsule. Tom Hanks was speaking French too.

"Wait a second, that's not French, it's Spanish!"

One fvqing movie on worth watching and it's in Spanish!

We have a number of television channels in spanish now. We even have one HBO channel that is full time Spanish now. Of course we have the Showtime Gay channel too. Well it's gay programming quite often as I pass by.

One night I was looking for at least a "b" movie to watch. Of the premium channels, one was Spanish, two were foreign films with sub-titles (sometimes I feel like one, sometimes I don't), two had men rolling around in bed with other men. Two or three others were older movies with all black actors, more like "b-" movies (no pun intended).

Above and beyond this problem, the movies on the premium channels have gone so far south I can't imagine them getting worse.

Who is it out there that wants to watch Barbara Streisand movies? The other night they had Klute on. The other movies are often ones that never made it to the movie theaters. Makes me wonder why I bother paying the fees, but then some nights I'd like to put something on so I keep the cable.

This is digusting. This man did not have to lose his life if our President had been truly serious about securing our borders. Put the damn military on our border facing Mexico.

Hope Presidnt Bush gets enough illegal votes come election time because he has really pissed his base off with even the mention of 245i (amensty).

I've never watched it for more than a few seconds, and I'm not very festive afterwards.

If any one uses numbersusa to send free faxes, you can go back to the site and look for a fax to President Bush and let him know what you think of the killing of the park ranger. I also brought up the killing of the deputy sheriff in Calif by an illegal that took off and went back into Mexico. just thought I would let you know. Even if you have sent the fax before you can still resend it, just click on it and write your own fax.

You know, a high velocity thinly jacketed hollowpoint, (5.56mm say) doesn't leave enough at the terminal end to do any ballistic comparison. Hard to even tell where it came from, or even the caliber. You never know. Border Patrolmen might keep that in mind, along with one or two such rounds in their pockets.

Hmmmmm.
