They say we only hurt the ones we love.
Never has this been more evident than in the case of the so-called environmentalists who worship trees and serene natural surroundings to the point that they love them to death.
I speak from first-hand experience.
I own a beautiful property in the southern Oregon forest currently under evacuation order because of raging wildfires. My house, our company's corporate headquarters and much more could be destroyed at any moment by the out-of-control blazes.
Why have we seen such destructive fires recently in Oregon, California, Colorado and throughout the West?
Because, on the orders of our government and following years of pressure from the powerful earth-worshipping lobby, we've stopped managing the forests. We have stopped exercising good stewardship over them. We have neglected them. We have done everything in our power to ensure they burn. We have loved the forests to death.
It reminds me of the old story of the atheist taking a walk through the woods, admiring all the natural majesty.
"What beautiful trees!" he exclaims. "What powerful rivers and streams! What interesting animals!"
Just then he hears a rustling in the bushes and sees a giant bear charge toward him.
The atheist runs as fast as he can, but the bear is gaining on him. His heart is racing as he runs. He looks over his shoulder to see the bear is only a few feet behind. As he turns, he trips over a branch and falls to the ground. He looks up to see the bear right on top of him with a paw raised ready to strike a deadly blow.
"Oh God!" cries the atheist.
At that instant, time stops. The bear freezes. The forest is silent. Even the river stops running.
The atheist hears a voice coming from heaven: "You deny my existence for all these years, teach others I don't exist and credit creation to a cosmic accident. Yet, now you call on me for help? Am I to count you as a believer?"
The atheist says: "No, it would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask you to treat me as a believer. But perhaps you could make the bear a believer?"
"Very well," says the voice.
In an instant, the sounds of the forest are back, the river is running again. The bear sits down. Putting both paws together, he bows his head and says: "Lord, for this food which I am about to receive, may I be truly thankful. Amen."
It may be too late for anything but an act of God to save my property and the homes and livelihoods of thousands in southern Oregon. Even though the fire is no longer an "imminent" threat, it is still only 10 percent contained, and so far is the sixth largest fire in Oregon history.
But it's not too late for the American people to wake up to the scam that has been perpetrated on them by their own government now fully captive to the earth-worshipping pagans who are, quite literally, loving our environment to death.
This is not the way it is supposed to be.
It reminds me of a passage of scripture Deuteronomy 28: 36-42 which explains what happens when we serve "other gods, wood and stone."
"The LORD shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone.
"And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither the LORD shall lead thee.
"Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall consume it.
"Thou shalt plant vineyards, and dress them, but shalt neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worms shall eat them.
"Thou shalt have olive trees throughout all thy coasts, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the oil; for thine olive shall cast his fruit.
"Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity.
"All thy trees and fruit of thy land shall the locust consume."
How about providing a bit of evidence to support your assertions? You're the first person I've ever heard asserting the primary reason for forest fires is to make work for our firefighters.
Please stay on track, too. Yellowstone was a fiasco, but arson?
As you're relatively new to FreeRepublic (7/25/02 - unless you're a disruptor), I think you'll find this to be a different, and better, discussion site than the others that you may have frequented. However, you need to come to the table with more than 'my comments are true'.
A more common cause is women who've had fights with their boyfriends.
"With all due respects for the great Farrah, I believe that the cause for the great fires is the fact that the government offers firefighters great salaries to fight the fires in areas where employment is not as readily available and renumerative."
You're partly right. But you've fallen into the old "either or" hole. A lot of different things have contributed to this out of control fire situation. This seemed to be the case with one man in Arizona and then a few nutty forest service people in others. The So. Oregon fires, so far as we know were started with lightening and the firefighters are brought in, the unemployed locals are not working at fire fighting.
"The government tempts local individuals to start the fires, since they are assured of plenty of good money from Uncle Sam for putting it out."
The government "tempts"....an arsonist is a criminal and doesn't need temptation. The government is responsible for much of this, but temptation isn't one of their sins...except for tempting the attorneys for the envirofreaks to line their pockets because of the faulty law known as the ESA.
"This is another example of the self destructive effects of government programs."
Yes, it is. It's also the fault of out of control groups calling themselves Environmentalists to make a BUNCH of money, that WE provide. And a bunch of activists judges on the 9th circuit. There's plenty of blame to go around.
Regards, B.

Yes, by our very own Carry_Okie who is at this very moment on a book tour explaining how the useful fools of the environmental movement are supporting the exact opposite of what they think.
His book: Natural Process
We're in Vancouver, WA, right now, heading to Lincoln City, OR. Mr. Inspectorette and I are totally in love with the beautiful Pacific Northwest, wish we had more vacation time from work to come up here.
