A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!
And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

~ ~ FREEDOM'S WORTH IT ! ! ! ~ ~ by LadyX
Those early colonists who established the concept of a land free from England's harsh and restrictive rule surely kept that cry in mind!
From Lexington to Concord - from Trenton to Valley Forge - Charleston to Savannah, and echoing in the halls in Philadephia where the Continental Congress was shaped; men who crafted the birth of a Republic kept the idea foremost in their minds.
More than 200 years later, we still repeat the cry; America a bright and shining star among the nations of the world.
One of our Free Republic members chose that screen name to denote her own beliefs - that a nation dedicated to God and His principles could grow and prosper.
It is with enormous pride that today we present and honor our very own Freedom'sWorthIt !!!
Freedom'sWorthIt
Member since August 7, 1998
Knowing of my long association with Freedom'sWorth it, Billie asked for my help with the lead-in. Nothing could please me more, being privileged to meet in her in person in November 1998. In Charlotte, North Carolina we had a gathering of CAROLINA Freepers, FWI traveling from Raleigh, NC and I from South Carolina to attend.
Our friendship grew and deepened through e-mail and Freep mail, both of us Christian and committed to promoting a conservative America.
She was among those who attended the 1998 March of Justice in Washington, D.C. She is one of THE most compassionate, passionate and well-spoken among our many Freepers. Her expressions on a broad range of subjects are without fail from the heart and beautifully articulated.
It is with pleasure that I add first my own recognition to you, Freedom'sWorthIt!
My thanks to you, LadyX, for being our Guest Writer today; I knew you would do a beautiful tribute, for I've seen the expressive way you have with words. You know that you'll be called upon again!
My thanks to you, FWI, for all that you do and all that you are.....you are truly one of FR's Finest, and I hope you enjoy your day in the !

Pretty Place, NC! I have not heard of it. Sounds so quaint and lovely.
But there are a lot of "pretty places" in NC - including many beautiful waterfalls like this one:

I'm guessing that picture was taken in the Great Smoky Mtns. National Forest. If you didn't make it into Cades Cove Tenn. that's in the Park then you will definatley have to come back to photograph that and please don't wait another 43 years! LOL!

The pics didn't come out.

Hillary's Lovely Legs - thanks for posting that letter! It was a joy to put that book together - and I appreciate so much your work to get all those good things to our heroes out on the USS Theodore Roosevelt! But, a letter from an Admiral - WOW - that was something!
Dixe Sass and LadyX - GRITS - both kinds - are good'uns, aren't they? (The real thing - and Girls Raised in the South! LOL!!!)
COB1 = am so glad you liked the rant enough to join in the party here today! :-) ((Hugs to you)) And I thought I saw that you were going to go all around the nation visiting Freepers - just let me know when its our turn in central NC land!

"Many of our ancestors who were from the Highlands of Scotland settled there because it reminded them so much of the Scotland that they had to leave after the Great Uprising." Aye!!
- - and one of the finest days of my life was in 1974 when I went to the meadow on Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina to witness The Highland Games!!
It was such a thrill to know you are 'part' of that, with it all singing in your blood, 'remembering...'
In addition to all the individual events and demonstrations and games, the highlight was - with bagpipes a'playin' - the Review of the Clans, who each had a tent around the entire perimeter of the field.
Everyone would thrill to see the Leader of each clan with his baton (forgot the specific name of it! - 'Venerable One' Memory Lapse Moment..:))) with its members in dress kilts struttin' with enormous pride -
TRULY AWESOME !!!
LOL - mixed with the Scottish blood is a heavy amount of the Irish - the German - the English - and a little French - all of which makes me a gen-u-wine AMERICAN!!

I didn't see any waterfalls -- just some rapids, but not a real falls.
Near sunset outside Waynesville
To: Freedom'sWorthIt
That looks like Dry Falls, the one that you can walk behind located in Highlands, N.C.
