In shameful election eve stunner, priest defends radical pro-abort gubernatorial candidate Jennifer Granholm in parish bulletin given to all parishioners this weekend.
"[Abortion protestors] would have the state legislate the freedom that only God can give or take."
"Christians are prochoice in the purest understanding of the term"

Jennifer Granholm is a Lector????? She is a pro-abort enemy of the unborn.
She is Our Lady of Guadalupe's true enemy.
BANSHEE WARNING!
If Cardinal Maida does nothing about this, then it is time for the Cardinal to leave the stage and turn things over to a real Catholic bishop.

Fr. Doc Ortman needs to be held accountable and simply defrocked. We do not need a priest who is a traitor as well as a heretic..

Using Doc's logic, we should support candidates that believe we have a free choice to murder. I fail to understand why this Parish has not emptied out.

Contact the bishop (Cardinal Adam Maida) ...
Adam Cardinal Maida seems to let the dogs run free on the pound. For example, he already permits his priests to celebrate Rainbow Masses for Dignity at Sacred Heart Chapel, Marygrove College, in in violation of the CDF's
"Letter to the Bishops of the Catholic Church on the Pastoral Care of Homosexual Persons"All support should be withdrawn from any organizations which seek to undermine the teaching of the Church, which are ambiguous about it, or which neglect it entirely. Such support, or even the semblance of such support, can be gravely misinterpreted. Special attention should be given to the practice of scheduling religious services and to the use of Church buildings by these groups, including the facilities of Catholic schools and colleges. To some, such permission to use Church property may seem only just and charitable; but in reality it is contradictory to the purpose for which these institutions were founded, it is misleading and often scandalous.
To the extent that there is an intrinsic connection between pregnancy/abortion and human sexuality, it might be that Cardinal Maida is conflicted concerning the Church's teaching on sexual morality in general. His responses to our e-mails and letters on this issue should be very telling.

Please read below for a non-sensical and heretical diatribe written by Michigan gubernatorial candidate Jennifer Granholms associate pastor in response to pro-lifers who are picketing the parish because Granholm supports abortion 100% and the parish has remained silent about it and allows her to serve as a lector. The parish is HUGE and WEALTHY.

Father Doc's Den
August 4, 2002
Many people have come to me in the two weeks just past to ask about television ads which point out that Ms Granholm, our sister, is pro choice. The concern has come from a mistaken notion that being pro choice is equal to being pro abortion. However, choice is part of the very foundation of our Catholic Christian Community. There are some who would gloss over theological reflection for the sake of emotion; these people often end up persecuting other brothers and sisters through their ignorance. As disciples of the Lord Jesus we are required to pray for their good, and for their enlightenment.
The Lord God has created all people in absolute freedom. Every action we take, each word we utter, is a matter of choice. As Catholic Christians we understand that this Awesome freedom carries with it a grave responsibility. In light of the teaching of Jesus we make choices according to a well formed conscience a conscience which is founded in the gospel which proclaims the blessedness of all people in any circumstances.
Scripture tells us that when God was finished creating, everything was good. The correct response to that good is a life which reverences and cares for all that God has made. This is our faith, and I know well that this is also Ms. Granholms faith as a Roman Catholic Christian person.
To say that one is pro choice is, for the Christian Community, an admission that we are created in freedom. This is a freedom that no state or government can grant or take away; it is a gift from the creator. By the same understanding it is a grave error to assume that the ability to freely choose actions and words is sinful.
For the past several weeks we have been persecuted by people who are living with a misguided notion of the freedom in which we are created. These people, signs in hand, are not interested in the reverence of Gods gift of life; they are concerned only with the threat of abortion. This is one small part of the reverence we are called to have for all that the Lord has Created. These people would have the state legislate the freedom that only God can give or take. The reverence of all life is a choice that we make according to our discipleship. It is a response to the love of God, in Jeesus, which leads us to reverence the unborn, the challenged, the elderly, the sick, the brilliant, the talented, the simple, the peacemakers
you get the idea.
Those who regard Ms. Granholm as a heretic do not understand, not do they wits to understand, that choice is itself a blessed gift. As with other things this blessing can b used for evil rather than for blessing.
Make no mistake, Christians are pro choice in the purest understanding of the term. We are free to choose between the Lord and the evil one. We are free to choose the Lords abundant and awesome love, and we are free to choose to deny it. The ability to choose is neither good nor evil. The choice made may be either. Many persecute because they choose not to hear or understand the depth of Gods gift of freedom. The freedom to choose is a gift in which to revel. It is not a heavy burden. The Lord has given us direction, and has asked that we CHOOSE according to what he says and does.
To borrow from the gospel
Let those with ears t hear heed what they hear!
Grace and peace,
Doc [Fr. Doc Ortman, associate pastor]

Thanks for the ping. I'll be back later on to do my duty as a Catholic obedient to the teachings of Christ. This is outrageous and we have to make our voices heard. I'm disgusted.

The pusillanimous "Fr. Doc Ortman" must be associate pastor to a church full of dim-witted parishioners if he really believes he can get this outrageous double-talk by them. What a disgrace.

The concern has come from a mistaken notion that being pro choice is equal to being pro abortion. ... We are free to choose between the Lord and the evil one.
What an evil teaching comes from this priest! Of course we are free to choose between God and Satan. The point of the abortion debate is that millions of innocent children are being deprived of this choice!
Fr. Ortman either forgets or rejects the teaching of the Church on the basic humanity and moral dignity of unborn children. Any true Catholic (indeed - any person of conscience) recognizes that the so-called "pro-choice" movement is the enemy of free choice for all their "freely chosen" victims!
To: Snuffington
Surely Fr. Ortman need only be reminded of his own words from November 2001 regarding his own pro-life witness against abortion (in fall 2001 Ortman helped install 2200 crosses in a symbolic "graveyard for the unborn" on parish property), which met with resistance in the parish:
If people are going to be offended, thats their problem, he said. We are called to proclaim the Gospel. This was simply a nonverbal proclamation of the Gospel. Jesus offended people every time He opened His mouth.

Thanks, maryz.
Fr. "Doc's" ramblings are truly nonsensical. With moral guidance like that, who needs Satan?
