Louisiana Governor Advises Women Scared of Serial Killer to Get a Gun "You have the right to get a gun permit," Foster said. "Learn to use it."
Now that sounds like an enlightened elected official.

Governor Foster is way cool. BTW some of our citizens are bitching cause they can't carry in church, schools and govt buildings. Gov Foster was funny answering their gripes,,he sort of said it was silly but they should try to get the law changed.

"Not many towns know how to deal with a serial killer." Actually, the Governors suggestion that women get a gun and learn to use it is EXACTLY how to deal with a serial killer, or single killer, or rapist, or......you get the idea.

To echo cajungirl, Gov. Foster is waaaay cool. He is an outdoorsman who loves to hunt, fish and ride his motorcycle. He's a Republican, too.

We country gals have guns and know how to use them. The gals in the city better take note. Their targets are not tin cans like mine. Shoot the bastryists!

Someone should check to see if Lousiana State University allows students who live in on-campus dormitories to carry guns. I doubt it. I know many colleges and universities forbid these students from owning and/or carrying a firearm on their grounds. It may be a liability issue, but it's more likely a gun control issue, since most people in academia are lefties. I wrote an editorial in the student newspaper in response to a rash of assaults close and on my campus (University of Delaware), and I mentioned that fact in my piece. But I also mentioned that people off-campus should carry, and learn to safely use their weapons. It's ridiculous, since the campus police aren't even armed with guns! (Even though the local town's police are). It's a continuing issue on campus. After I wrote my editorial, a couple leftist peers of mine wrote angry letters in response, and I argued with one of them over e-mail. Their ignorance is disturbing.

"You have the right to get a gun permit," Foster said. "Learn to use it." That just cinched his re-election. (Get rid of Mary Landreiu)

"Gov. Foster is waaaay cool. He is an outdoorsman who loves to hunt, fish and ride his motorcycle. He's a Republican, too."He's a life-long democrat who changed his party affilliation to republican just before running for governor. He has governed like a democrat and is anything but conservative. All of this on a "part-time" schedule at that. The man is a jerk.

"The man is a jerk"
Zat right ? Well, I can certainly understand why you seem to feel you're an authority on jerks.

"You have the right to get a gun permit," Foster said. My only critique : why do we need a permit to exercise our rights ? That makes it a privilidge.
Even so, for a governor to say this is welcome indeed.
To: knak
"Get a gun"
And thats the way it should be...
I applaud the Governor
