"Personally I feel kind of bad for the man. Jail for a non-violent person can be a very frightening experience."-Sam

"Even though I realize he might be guilty, I feel the same way you do." - teletech

Then that makes 3 of us.

I don't think it's funny. Traficant was railroaded because he was outspoken about Clinton and Janet Reno. His own party threw him to the wolves and they too are laughing right now at him having to remove his toupee.

Don't be surprised if he is re-elected.

Four! He's guilty but so are most of the others. Kennedy comes to mind. So does the ex-president. Anyway, I liked his style. He called it like it was and put anyone in their place. That is what did him in, not his crimes.

I think I recall that both she and billous said that she could and did. He deferred to her and she accepted full responsibility. Or do I have my massacres confused???

Hello?

The Attorney General cannot order anyone from the Army to do anything. You cannot seriously believe that "full responsibility" BS which she claimed a number of times. And why exactly would the President of the United States "defer" to an Attorney General, especially one who had only been on the job for a few weeks, on a matter such as this? More Americans were killed that day by government action than on any day since the War Between the States (and one might argue that those killed weren't really Americans when they were killed). But Bubba was out playing golf or getting a BJ, and it's okay with you.

What exactly does "full responsibility" mean to you?

I've joked about Jim's toupee like everyone else, but the video made me cringe. Not the pictures, but the gleeful guffaws, giggling and snickering of the newsreaders. It wasn't funny to me at all.

Putting aside Traficant's guilt or innocence, does he have to suffer a loss of all dignity and be paraded publicly like a carnival side-show?

Even my dog used to hide after being shorn.

The "Clintons" may not be orchestrating Trafficant's demise but rest assured he is paying the price for not being loyal to the Party.

Free Republic's Mission Statement:

Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America. And we always have fun doing it. Hoo-yah!

Lighten up, folks!  Jim Traficant brought this upon himself (no one else) and didn't get anything he didn't deserve, regardless if he "spoke a good game."

HEY! Just looking at this thread has given me a TERRIFIC STORY IDEA in the form of a script about Traficant's squirrel wig. And the ironic thing is it won't be Traficant who will be hurt by publication of the story (hopefully next week) but the Judge who railroaded him. It all hit me in a FLASH!!!

Don't worry. Take a look at my Reply #49. It will all BACKFIRE on them next week. While looking at this thread, the whole script about his wig hit me in a FLASH! I mean word for word down to the smallest detail. Hopefully online next week.

p.s. Judge Wells' won't be a happy camper. Hee! Hee!

You are correct but Trafficant isn't alone in wrong-doing. The difference is his style; the liberals don't like it. The man was railroaded, not so much by the suggested sentence but by the added penalties given by the judge. I, too, have contempt for the government and wouldn't want to pay the recommended fine with attachments added because the judge didn't like me. Trafficant was a threat to the democratic party. That was his real crime.

I agree with you. I was just repeating their explanation at the time. I am happy that you didn't buy it either.

Jail for a non-violent person can be a very frightening experience.

I agree...they shouldn't of jailed him....just make him pay a huge fine...and community service. This a real shame....after what most of them get away with?? I feel bad for him too.

Good grief--they're taking a poll on whether or not you knew he wore a toupee?
