A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!
And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

"ONE OF FR'S FINEST"
Doug from Upland
(dfu)
"Where the heck is Upland, anyway?"
>
Upland is located in Southern California in San Bernardino County.
"OUR NEXT CALLER IS......Doug from Upland......Go ahead, Doug, you're on the air. What's on your mind today?"
If you are a fan of talk radio, you may have heard those very words because they have been spoken many times. And the caller has plenty on his mind because he could very well be our own Doug from Upland at the end of the line. In the last decade, he has probably made about 2,000 calls to talk radio shows and has been a guest on some of them. Like most FReepers, he is a grassroots conservative. He loves to challenge the left wing press and "get in the faces of left wing nitwits". He has been described as "The Bard of Upland" and a "Clintonologist" by a Los Angeles talk show host.
Doug from Upland's media appearances have not been limited to radio. He was on the podium at the Post-Inaugural Victory Brunch held to celebrate the election of President George W. Bush and to honor Jim Robinson on Sunday, February 11, 2001. It was taped and broadcast on C-Span on March 23, 2001. Here dfu is shown passing out his infamous KneePad Awards. Some of the "winners" were Dan Rather, Alan Dershowitz and Peter Jennings.
Doug from Upland has combined his love and knowledge of music with his political acumen and sense of humor to create music parodies. His dfu song parodies can be found by doing a Search and requesting Song Parody. There are way too many to link here but I did select a couple of recent ones that you might enjoy.
Tipper Goes Nuts
Martha Stewart in Stripes
And finally, we come to the Freeper Anthem. Shown above are dfu and Counter, Counter, Culture at the Victory dinner leading everyone in the FREEPER ANTHEM which Doug from Upland wrote. Do check it out. In fact, we should all rise now and sing the Freeper anthem along with dfu and ccc.
IN HIS OWN WORDS:
FAVORITE FREEP - "I did a FReep before I knew what a FReep was. It took place in Feb. 1998 just after Drudge broke the Willey and Monica stories. I flew to DC for the weekend and paraded in front of the White House with a poster-sized eviction notice. Unfortunately, the Secret Service would not let me serve it on the scumbags."
Doug from Upland has been a Freeper since 12-04-97 and has been One of FR's Finest from the very beginning. Enjoy your Day in the Spotlight, Doug from Upland, and Thank You.

Wow. Thank you. I am just amazed that I wasn't banned a long time ago. :)

I am humbled at this thread but a little distressed that on it would be mentioned "black rot problem." It actually is quite painful at times. How did you know? Have you been peeking in my window?

He wasnt happy with where he was
so thered be some rearranging
Jim Jeffords said with an aching heart
the time was now right for changing
Though Bush had hoped that hed change his mind
the worst he is afraid he will find
Todays the day that Jeffords will change his gender
Barney Frank is beside himself
on Jeffords he had been hitting
He heard the news and hes hoping that reporters are only kidding
Though Bush had hoped that hed change his mind
the worst he is afraid he will find
Todays the day that Jeffords will change his gender
For transgenders, oh what day
they are shouting Hip, hip, hooray
There is now one more part recycled for someone really in need
Its a wonderful world weve got
it wont be thrown away to rot
It is one more great stroke
a great stroke
against all of the right wing greed
It is getting so typical
it is more of the left wing bull
No perversion is bad
its fine
thats quickly becoming their creed
Its a wonderful world weve got
it wont be thrown away to rot
It is one more great stroke
a great stroke
against all of the right wing greed
Hes stepping up to the microphone
the cameras are now all rolling
The crowd is certainly target-rich
the perverts begin their trolling
Though Bush had hoped that hed change his mind
the worst he is afraid he will find
Todays the day that Jeffords will change his gender
Democrats are all aghast
they thought the time was right
the Senate was finally theirs at last
Hell go to the Frisco bay
theyll do the surgery and he wont have to pay
This came as a total shock
and pretty soon he wont have even a single ball
But women spoke up who have been with him and they were quick to say
Jim will not be missing much at all

Good morning to you both. Being relative newbies to FR, I hope you enjoyed meeting DFU. He has made us laugh and made us cry for a very long time.

I keep forgetting how long you have been a FReeper....I need to squeeze your brain some time for long forgotten information on some of our FR's Finest....Meanwhile, if you can think of folks to ping to today's thread, FRiends of DFU, that would be great.

What a great choice daisyscarlett. We had many DFU "singalongs" in our household, especially during impeachment days. I specifically remember "BJ's in the night" sung to Strangers in the Night.
We were doing our family Christmas impeachment weekend, and cousins, nieces and nephews were all around the piano singing that one. My mother immediately dubbed DRU a "pervert". He had a great time with that one but won her over with a beautiful mothers day tribute last year.
Congratulations Doug!

Those pictures of Upland are very nice and it is a beautiful setting....There is a bit of smog there but, still, it is a gorgeous place with the snowcapped mountains in the background.

Great job, great choice, WOOHOOO - DFU!!! Congratulations! Thank you so very very much for all your work on behalf of the Clinton rape victims and for your righteous fight that has had an impact in many ways, including your songs!
To: doug from upland; ST.LOUIE1
Doug: I enjoyed your song paradies and your posts for a couple of years before I registered, and I still enjoy them.
Calling, Louie. Doug is here!
