Hamas on Friday appointed Muhammad Deif the new commander of its military wing, following the killing of his predecessor, Salah Shehadeh, in a bombing strike last Tuesday, The Jerusalem Post reported Sunday.
Deif, 40, from Khan Yunis, is also known as Abu Khaled. He was Shehadeh's deputy. Deifs name has been appearing on Israel's most wanted list and was held by the PA for several months before being released.
Palestinian sources said earlier that the new military wing chief was most likely Mohammed Deif or Adnan al-Rul, an expert in bomb and rockets production.
On Friday, Abdel Aziz Rantisi, a senior Hamas member in the Gaza Strip, announced that the military wing had appointed a new leader in place of Shehada, who was assassinated in an Israeli strike last Monday.
Rantisi, who did not reveal the identity of the new military wing chief, made the remarks at a Hamas gathering on Friday. Rantisi aired that the main goal of the new leader would be to avenge Shehada's death.

In Gaza, yesterday, Palestinian terrorists show their
warm feelings for President Bush and the USA
in actions only the EU, UN and Dept of State could love.

Most of the pales support saddam, bin laden, and the
ayatollahs. I think most clear thinking people in the
USA understand this. These people are our enemies, make
no mistake about it.

Put him in a sack, and throw him over a rocky cliff. Should he survive, hang him.

When the palies murder women and children its a freedom fight and justifiable to break the "occupation" of the palestine "homeland".

There's alot of sudden instant death syndrome going around over there. Especially for leaders of 'military wings' of terrorist groups. He really doesn't look so good judging from the picture.

Whoever Hamas new bomb maker is, he's already dead.

I wonder if Israel has another 2,000 pound bomb waiting for him. Deif now has to wonder the same thing when he spends the night with his own family.
You'd be surprized at the breakdowns in Israeli intelligence........

I wonder if this guy's neighbors are also rejoicing in the good news? Betchya next week's potluck at the Deif house will have a low turnout.
