Hmmm someone may correct me. (if I am wrong DO SO), but I would wash it down good to get the oil off and then let it dry completely.

The attitude was shaped early in a nomadic life, Kathy.
Something about in adulthood being in the Marine Corps - part of the Navy and then the Air Force.

Have driven in segments from the Florida (my home state) Keys to literally above the Arctic Circle, where we camped, as well as near Mt. McKinley.

Had driven the Alaska Highway from Rapid City, South Dakota to Fairbanks in the dead of winter and out 3 1/2 years later in summer.
Was there for the Good Friday Earthquake in 1964.

Lived in Rochester, New York and twice in Ohio - in Virginia, North Carolina (twice) and South Carolina (4 times) - back and forth to Florida three times.
At last count it was something like 38 times.

After the service years were the retailing ones - and then 16 medical field years.

Cooking was not a high priority in a busy life...:)))

Going to bed now, and will see you in the morning....

If you don't get the oil off anyplace it's going to get hot, you're going to have smoke. Is that going to get into the MH?

Is there enough oil left that you run the danger of a fire?

If the generator is on the outside, you might be able to go to a do-it-yourself carwash and spray it down with a degreaser.

Otherwise, I'm not sure what I'd do...

Hey! Morale! Big volcano eruption in hawaii...I'm sure I speak for the male Freeper sector when I state that the volcano dancers of death straddle that thin line of peril and delight that can rob a man of his reason faster than a half off sale at Performance Auto parts! Don't forget to include Psyops in the candidacy for volcanization! E's a good lad E is! Without a sacrifice vital beach frontage could become Lavage!(sorry)

That is what I want to do because the oil is all over in the little crevices and underneath. I got a lot of it off, but I am going to hate thinking about what it is going to do to it to let it all burn off! Yuck! There was a couple quarts of oil in that generator! What a way to empty it! LOL! Let me know when you are ready for a dance!

I just reread your post, you said the generator is in a compartment.
RA is right, though, it needs to be cleaned off. A good degreaser, or maybe some Dawn, hose it down...is there a drain in the bottom of the compartment for water to drain out of?

Yes, that is what I was afraid of. It is inside a compartment but has good drain holes....problem is it is hard to see into the back side of it, but I really don't think much got into the back area. Most of it in in the front part and on the carburetor and underneath the unit. It is in it's own metal compartment.
