The average child molestor has abused many children before he prosecuted the first time. These perverts know after the first run-in with the law that the next time a kid talks will put him behind bars, so they kill.

This is part of the reason that I don't believe that Westerfield killed Danielle Van Dam. He had no history of child abuse.
