Bush's Impeachment Sought by Clinton-Connected Group

A group of Democrats with close ties to the Clinton White House and the Democratic National Committee is working to elect a Democratic majority in both Houses of Congress this fall with the express goal of impeaching President Bush.

The web site Democrats.com introduces a new feature this week that it calls, "'Bushgate' - Which Scandal Will Bring About Bush's Impeachment?"

"Bush has run the most scandal-ridden administration since Richard Nixon produced Watergate," the web site's authors contend.

"'Bushgate' (will) track the progress of ALL of Bush's scandals," the web site says, "as they make their way from Internet exposes... to columns, books and films... to mainstream news stories... to Congressional investigations... and finally, to IMPEACHMENT."

Democrats.com even goes so far as to outline a two step plan to make Bush the second elected president in U.S. history to be impeached. (Clinton was the first.)

"Here is our plan," the group says:

"Step 1: We, the People, will draft the Articles of Impeachment.

"Step 2: We, the People, will elect a Democratic Congress in November 2002 with instructions to impeach the President, Vice President, and Supreme Court Justices."

The web site has even started a voter registration drive with an eye towards building an electoral majority that will make impeachment possible.

"We can use our voting power to win the next election in a landslide and defeat all Republicans," the web site promises. "To succeed, we must use the Internet to mobilize a get-out-the-vote effort on a scale never seen before."

Democrats.com then asks new voters to sign the following "Voter Pledge":

"I will elect a Democratic Congress in November to impeach George Bush, Dick Cheney, and the Supreme Court 5."

Far from being a group of disgruntled political activists disconnected from the Democratic Party's mainstream, Democrats.com boasts of some very impressive connections to the Clinton administration and the DNC.

The web site's co-founder, David Lytel, was President Clinton's personal webmaster, helping to develop and edit of the award-winning White House web site.

Former Clinton pollster Stanley Greenberg sits on Democrat's.com's advisory board, along with Dick Bell, formerly the head of the Interactive Media Department at the Democratic National Committee.

Jock Gill, another advisory board member, was Director of Special Projects in the Office of Media Affairs in the Clinton White House. He also helped develop the White House's web site.

Democrats.com advisory board member Greg Simon was the chief domestic policy advisor to Vice President Al Gore.

Last week it was revealed that another group of former White House figures calling itself American Family Voices had launched an ad campaign claiming that Bush's 1990 sale of Harken Energy stock was corrupt and helped set the stage for the wave of business scandals currently rocking Wall Street.

The AFV's most prominent member is Clinton attack dog James Carville.

Despite Democrats.com's close ties to their administration, Bill and Hillary Clinton have never commented on the web site's activities.

Neither of the Clintons could be reached Monday night to respond to the efforts of their former staffers to get President Bush impeached.

I can just picture the menagerie of flotsam and jetsam losers signing that petition; the homosexual hairdressers, the sasquatch feminists, the abortionists, the militant enviros, the people who whine that life isn't fair, the socialists, etc. People who have no inkling of how to be a productive citizen. All they know how to do is whine and whine and whine and whine.

Discount this at your peril, afterall, the editorial board at American Spectator and Paul Mellon Scaife were both considered cranks way back when.

It's Richard Mellon Scaife, Beckster. And he was never considered a crank; just a bankroller.

Don't know about the higer education part...........but trying to impeach the president may be vindictive, ridiculous, and transparent, but it is not treason. Just read the constitution or any dictionary definition. The meaning doesn't change with the change of incumbants.

It appears to me that there is much more to this than meets the eye.

A couple of things strike me as interesting...

1. The Dems always say all politics is local. Plus they point to polls which say GW doesn't have coattails. Politically speaking it would not make sense to attack Bush under these circumstances.

2. The Clinton MO was always character assassination accusing the other side of that which he has done. Re:Newt, Bob Livingstone, Henry Hyde. Then engaging in moral relativity.

3. Early on there were posts on FR about a special task force put together by Bush and Ashcroft for the purpose of investigating corruption. We guessed it would be a top notch team of folks who could keep their mouths shut.

4. Bush refuses to release Presidential documents that go back into the Clinton Administration.

5. Attacks on Pitt.

All these look like acts of despiration. Why? I have watched politics for a long time and have never seen this level of vitriol from the Dems. Over midterm elections? One could reasonably assume there is much more at stake here.

That type of double-think would be amusing if it wasn't so frightening. I truly believe that the Dim party has become a cult, worshipping the Clintons.

It's amazing, they went from Kennedy to Clinton.

"isn't W supposed to have the I.Q. of a turnip? Yet, he is this big mastermind who is taking over the world"

Pathetic is truly the word. These people are so terrified they are going to be totally out of power after the next election, they are going to try anything they can to try to get Bush to fall ... it's aint gonna happen - they have underestimated him again.

I hope this BS gets picked up by EVERY mainstream press outlet that there is!!! Go ahead, you f_ckin' 'Rats - I DARE YOU. If they really want to measure the depth of hate for their king and queen (or king and king), they need to push this agenda. The backlash against them will put their trip to the ash heap of history into warp drive, while putting the "Open Season" signs up on the Blue Zone. Lock and load 'em boys, no limits in the Blue (traitor) Zone......hehehehe....I can't wait.

If the media does run this, they will selectively report on it, so as to make it seem that only the most intelligent and upright of people are behind it.

This not just a bunch of cranks, this is well planned.

Starting an impeachment drive two years into a President's term - during a war - looks like lousy planning to me. They're three years late. We started planning Clinton's impeachment in 1991, a year before he was elected. (But Democrats.com has repeated an error we made with Clinton - setting impeachment as the end goal, instead of conviction and removal from office.)

We also had a true visionary - Bob Barr, the first Congressman to call for Clinton's impeachment. Who will be the first Democrat to call for Bush's impeachment? Probably Maxine Waters. That will be hilarious.

As long as Bush doesn't get caught in masturbating in the Oval Office sink while a teenage intern licks his butt, and isn't exposed as a rapist, he has nothing to fear.

Financial records turing up in trunks of cars, billing records....silence of witnesses who were jailed...strange characters showing up with sacks of cash in the White House. Hmmmm......There was enough material for the Clintons to be suspected. Their evasions were/are legendary.

The Dems are up to there neck in corporate influence and greed.....I hope they pop the cork on this sucker and let the feces fly.

Probably being financed by the so-called Clinton LIEbary trust. HEHE!!

I hope Bush will someday get his belly full of their petty crap and kick some serious booty. I imagine he knows most of the illegal business that went on in the Clintoon administration and could cause them serious problems if he cut loose!

Something tells me they're sweating the Nov elections because if they lose seats, Bush can finally play hardball and clean house in that filthy city. This upcoming election could mean, quite literally, life or death to the Demoncrat party! (Not to mention, our country's future.)

I suspect they would face some problems chewing this one if they actually bit it off.
