There are different kinds of curbs.....the ones you refer to are put in place when the markets have dropped a certain number.....they don't allow "program selling" at that time..keeps the computer trading programs from piling on and dricing the markets straight down..that's what happened in 1987.........that was the so-called "portfolio insurance"..remember?

If it closes up...there will be momentum upwards in the morning. I don't know what's fueling this yet. The smart guys always play at the end of the round.

Curbs were designed after the '87 crash to slow things down. I don't know much more about it than you, but at a change of the Dow of roughly 200 points (down or up), they stop taking program trades (computer-to-computer). I don't recall when they get taken off, but there is a point at which it is.

Dow -191 (guess the PPT ran out of steam :)
NASDAQ -33
S&P -23

If people are selling......somebody has got to be buying. It's going to be interesting to see if corporations are buying back their own stock.

It is New England, and if their spring was anything like mine, we were praying that "global warming" would kick in.

Although I'm don't doubt there is a PPT at work in the markets, I'm not sure the late day rallies we've seen are completely due to the PPT. It's possible, but it also could be shorts closing out their positions. Bulls love to villify short traders, implying there is something evil in shorting the market. The irony is that shorts actually help in a falling market by providing liquidity (i.e. they are buyers when everyone else is selling).

While I am filled with love, and have no more odor than a freshly cooked biscuit, I am still concerned about this market.

Your# 226).....................If people are selling......somebody has got to be buying.

My guess would be the "British" groups!
They are building "Airstrip-1" on U.S. soil,.......again!

IMHO

Buy at 2500.
