AIDS gets more funding because it's a very politically correct disease.

Oftentimes AIDS activists claim that the disease does not discriminate when selecting its victims. This is simply not true.

AIDS is the most discriminating disease we have ever seen. Maybe that's why we like it so. AIDS is like a big tattle tail little sister. If you are a country with an AIDS epidemic, what is that Tattler saying about you? If you are a guy in california with pierced ears and the cutest clothes and you have AIDS. What is that tattler saying about you?

The truth is, of course, much worse, and even sillier.

It is much, much, more scientifically likely that AIDS is a result of toxic drugs, prescription, recreational, whatever, than the effect of a sexually transmitted evil virus somehow endowed with super-virus attributes (perhaps it originated on Krypton) that supercedes all our hard won knowledge of virology, epidemeology, and immunology.

In USA, it is primarily a "gay" and druggie disease. In Africa and Asia, it is a "straight" and druggie disease. Worldwide, it is spread by promiscuious sex and, as such it is a behavior problem. Until the behavior that spreads the disease is changed, the disease will continue to spread. Drugs, even vaccines, are secondary the the behavior problem IMHO.

With the methods of transmission laid out, it becomes quite obvious that AIDS, unlike so many of the diseases that affect millions of Americans, is largely preventable if only individuals would not have multiple sexual partners, either in homosexual or heterosexual relationships. Yet, despite the obvious simplicity in preventing the spread of this disease, our government spends an enormous amount of money on AIDS.

The message should be spread far and wide: Have promiscuous sex and you will likely suffer serious consequences. I'm a religious guy, and I cannot get over how much better the world would be for just following God's advice on this.

Exactly. Homosexuals and blacks are politically correct victim groups to liberals. I have a hunch if AIDS had been a disease afflicting only white males, the federal government wouldn't neither be funding research to cure it nor would the medical establishment publicize it at conferences every three years or so. Forget about private sector drugs or vaccines. Yeah AIDS victims have profited handsomely despite their indulging in self-destructive behavior because they have the right cachet. Which is exactly why liberals adore them.

Or are you implying that those were actually all homosexuals and or drug users?
