Limbaugh Urges Traficant: Blow the Lid Off Dem Scandals
NewsMax.com ^ | 7/19/02 | Carl Limbacher and NewsMax.com Staff

America's number one talk radio host Rush Limbaugh urged Rep. James Traficant, D-Ohio, on Friday to deliver a "farewell expose" on his fellow Democrats before they vote to expel him from the House on corruption charges next week.

"Congressman, I know you're out there," Limbaugh told his audience. "I would love to hear you deliver a farewell expose, if you will, on the floor of the House, blowing the whistle on all the Democrats who stood behind Clinton and Condit but aren't standing behind you."

The conservative talker said Traficant's bribery conviction paled next to the crimes of the Clinton administration.

"We have a president who was convicted of perjury, lying before a federal judge," he complained. "We had a guy who was perhaps giving nuclear secrets to the Chinese, breaking all kinds of campaign finance laws."

Back then, Limbaugh reminded, senators said they acquitted Clinton because removing him from office would have been "overturning the will of the people." Democrat leaders Tom Daschle and Dick Gephardt made much the same argument for their decision not to force Rep. Gary Condit, D-Calif., to resign last year over the Chandra Levy cover-up.

Under House rules, Traficant will have 30 minutes to address his colleagues before any expulsion vote.

"He's promised one hell of a show on the floor of the House," said Limbaugh. "And what he's done so far probably is nothing compared to what he's going to do."

Two years ago, Traficant accused former Attorney General Janet Reno of treason, telling Fox News Channel that the Clintons chose her for the job because she has a sordid past that made her easy to blackmail.

One of the things I miss most about the NY/NJ area where I spent most of my life is Bob Grant. I don't think there is another radio host that's can come close to him IMO.

A lot of people are making light of this but that is becuase they don't know Jim Traficant and they are not taking seriously that this is a remnant of the Clinton abuses of power. He has been run out of office becuase he would not go along to get along.

If they expel him, it will be our loss, not Traficant's.

I urge everyone to listen to the witnesses that Traficant presented during the ethics hearing. You can view them on the C-span.org website, which I believe were aired during the wee hours on C-span 3. Especially listen to the testimony of the gentleman who testified during the evening session of 7/16. He says he was pressured and threatened to lie about Traficant and is believable and compelling. Listen to the whole hearing, not just the soundbites of "looney" Traficant shown on the news. His witnesses are thought provoking and he was prevented from presenting them during his criminal trial. Also read the c-span message boards of the people who have been following this closely. There is huge support for Traficant.

I always had sympathy for him believing that he was probably guilty but his crimes were less than many in Congress who have done much worse. I felt he was targeted. Now I believe he was not only targeted, but probably railroaded as well. No wonder he sounds crazy.

I have never been a conspiracy theorist, and have always had little patience with those I believed were, but something stinks here.

Please! Let's have some examples of his supposed "ignorance". Have you done even a 1/1000th of one percent of what he has done and is doing for the conservative cause (and he is an entertainer, after all...)?

Apparently you're unaware of JT's first federal trial. He was his own attorney and beat the feds on their Rico charge, which is a very strong incentive for the feds to go after him.

Also, do you remember the records retrieved from the FBI's dumpster pertaining to John Demanijak (sp) that ended up in JT's hands and were instrumental in John D's defense? It seems that the FBI just somehow "forgot" to turn those over to John D's defense.

So, now, there are two huge reasons why the feds' dander is up.

BTW, to whomever, what's this about murder? Give me a break and get back to reality.

I have no doubt Traficant is being persecuted.

He should be.

Back here, we all heard the witness you're speaking of: Richard Detore. He was believable, and he did throw out names like Torricelli, Patrick Kennedy, etc. and their uses of a certain private plane, home for parties, etc. whenever they felt like it.

But the most heartbreaking aspect was that the feds have completely destroyed this man's life, his family's life, destroyed their medical health, destroyed his finances via lawyers, and shot and killed his children's dog, and forced to wear an ankle bracelet. For what? Because, he stated, he refused to lie about JT for the feds. He alleged that the feds brought up Janet Reno and JT said some things about her and the administration wants him out. (Yes, our government at work.)

It was my impression the Committee believed him, as did everyone back here. However, the politicians' aim is to get Rep. Traficant out of Congress.

When you say "back here" does that mean you're from Traficant's district? If so I think you should all stick by him. I called his office today and expressed my support.

I am sickened that the testimony of Defore has got such little (none) coverage. He broke my heart too. Also the testimony of that woman Sandra. Something is rotten here and virtually no one cares!!!!

The time to root out corruption is when you find it.

Yes, but you're talking about James Traficant here.

I have been following Traficant stories since I first saw him on Fox News yelling about Janet Reno and the fact that he was going to be indicted. He was rude, crude, knee slapping entertainment. His story I found was quite captivating and so caught my interest that I came to be introduced to the One-Minute Speeches on his congressional website. Brazon speeches and that I copied, pasted and passed around in email. Does anyone remember him saying on Hannity and Colms that he possessed or had knowledge of a video of Janet Reno with Asian hookers and how those rendezvous came to be?

Traficant is one of my daily key word searches for articles of interest to me on FR. Tonight's search, bringing up articles from March 7th to date, I find that this post on Rush’s comments have sparked more comments and the most favorable support for the man than any other thread I have seen to date.

Could someone please tell me, would it be procedurally possible for Traficant, before his expulsion, to call for a vote to open the room containing the evidence from the impeachment. I am one American who would like to know before I leave this earth, just what the life long Democrat, former Chicago Prosecutor David P. Schippers, who, under Attorney General Robert Kennedy, served as leader of the Justice Department’s Organized Crime and Racketeering Unit, and who convicted such mobsters as Sam Giancana and Sam Battaglia, and his investigative team were able to put together. I can hardly fathom that these boxes upon boxes of investigative materials that he discusses in his book “Sellout” didn’t even spark enough interest for one DemonRAT representative to go and look at it. It just ticks me off that they locked it up so no one could see it.

Additionally, I am surprised that the media has not latched on the story of the testimony of Richard Detore before this Ethics Committee. I noted from a google, transcripts of Mr. Detore's prior appearances before congressional committees as an expert witness. One would think that what he had to say in this hearing might spark a little media interest. Even if it were only equal to the amount of coverage of the recently ended trial of former FBI agent John Connolly, I would like to see it. Does anyone when Connolly will receive his sentence?

I hope Traficant goes out with the "whistle-blowing farewell expose" that Rush has asked for.

He is crazier than a loon,

Anyone who speaks out against the IRS, Illegal Immigration, environmentalists, and Janet Reno needs a shrink. The house should consider voting not guilty by reason of insanity.

The last time I had a feeling like the one I do in the pit of my stomach was at R. Bud Dwyer's (PA Auditor General) last news conference.

I do recall Dwyer packed a lunch for that one...
