WASHINGTON, DC, Jul 19, 02 (CWNews.com) - The US Senate on Thursday passed a bill protecting children born alive from being killed-- even if it the child is born during an abortion. The bill now goes to the White House for President George W. Bush's signature. The Senate passed the bill unanimously and was passed by the House in March.
The Born-Alive Infants Protection Act would amend the legal definitions of "person," "human being," "child," and "individual" to include a live birth that has occurred as part of an abortion. Supporters of the law noted numerous documented instances of children born during abortions who were left to die or were smothered by doctors.

Not an urban legend. And actually the doctors don't kill the live aborted babies, it is the nurse's job to. I have a friend who is not religious at all, got her nursing degree for OBGYN, first day on the floor in the hospital, she was by a doctor told that she had to dispose of something. Went in, it was an aborted fetus that was still alive. She walked out and went to her nursing supervisor and asked her what to do. She was told to leave the baby alone until it stopped moving, or 'accidentally' put some towels over its face, or whatever. My friend quit on the spot.
I also have a sister who is an RN and works in Labor and Delivery. She lived in Massachusetts for four years and can tell some horror stories about what happened babies that were aborted and were still alive. (Not to her, she puts it in as a condition of employment that she won't have anything to do with abortions.)

Praise the Lord, indeed! One more step toward a culture of LIFE!
For 30 years we have been hurtling downhill, and we are finally inching back up toward righteousness.
Keep praying!

I wish one of our Republican Senator would've requested the YEAS and NAYS. Could 1 senator do that? If so, I should think at least Peter Fitzgerald would have.
What does the fact that they did it this way mean?

Great! There is currently a bill moving in the house to ban PBA. The momentum is moving in the babies direction.

For 30 years we have been hurtling downhill, and we are finally inching back up toward righteousness.Do you have any more evidence that the bad ship "Corrupt American Culture" has done a 180 degree turn and is beginning to steam toward virtue?
Please convince me.

... children born during abortions who were left to die or were smothered by doctors Sick bstards. Anyone who would do this should be in jail for life, or themselves executed for murder IMHO.

This is wonderful news, ohio. Thanks for the head's up. I am sure Jill Stanek is very happy about this vote. I have heard her being interviewed, and the terrible things she witnessed while a nurse at "Christ" Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois, bring tears to my eyes.
Optimistic BUMP!

Doctors will now be SUED by parents of a child born in this manner. Another boon to the lawyers of America. Tort reform, while absolutely necessary, is at the bottom of the list of Republican priorities.

Yep, we had a doc prosecuted about 5 years ago here in W. Washington for smothering a baby who was born when parents intended for it to be DOA. Delivery room staff witnessed the killing and reported it.

And this time we don't have an IMMORAL president who will veto this bill. God Bless President Bush!

I'm not so sure, he would have worked against it if all these pro-abortion senators were afraid to vote against it. Very possible, since this is an election year and the time when the liberals put on a more conservative face to fool the voters until after the election when they can go back to assaulting the country and its core values once again.

"Very possible, since this is an election year and the time when the liberals put on a more conservative face to fool the voters until after the election when they can go back to assaulting the country and its core values once again."Yep. Votes. They want to take advantage of the VRWC, that vast base that popped up in 2000 and took them completely by surprise.
