USO Canteen FReeper FRiday....ALOHA RONNIE.......July 19,2002

If you know a Veteran, someone in your family, friend of the family, neighbor, who served their country, take a brief moment of your day to thank them. Thank them for the sacrifice they made for the better good of their country.
We at Free Republic, and the USO Canteen FReeper Style, are thankful for every service member in our military, who has served our great nation.
So, to the men and women who answered the call, in both times of war and peace, thank you.
.
Message from Snow Bunny to all those who visit the Canteen.
This is how I think of the USO Canteen Freeper Style. It is like a cottage down a road, a place where a weary veteran can spend the night.
Since it opened, it is magical how so many Freepers who post here, feel it too. It has been so dear how the Freepers kept making it a cottage - a home-type of place that had a huge living room for them to visit in and a dance floor, a library, etc.
Many Veterans have written to me, saying that the Canteen is like home to them for the first time since they served.
This is your Canteen - a respite from our busy and sometimes troubling world. Make yourself at home.

The USO Canteen Honors FReepers who have served, or are now serving their country.

You may have a loved one who has served in the past. We at the FReeper USO Canteen would like to honor each and every one.

Exactly!
I watch a lot of movies from the 30's and 40's I have on tape. Many of them would be banned now with the expressions they used and the dialogue in them. Words that now are not PC by the liberals, who do not follow their own regid standards.

One of my best friends during college loved tea parties. So, for her birthday we had a tea party for her at 2:00 in the afternoon and we all wore our best dresses, hats, and gloves. We served all of the traditional tea time foods and we had a BLAST! We watched Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea (My favorite girl movies). When she got married her reception was a Victorian Tea. It was a lot of fun too.

The Latest....
The Little Elk Fire laid down Thursday afternoon under weather conditions favorable to the firefighting effort. Lower temperatures and higher humidity helped firefighters gain ground. (Journal photo by Alan Carroll)

An air tanker that was sent to battle the 1,200-acre Big Elk Fire near Lyons crashes Thursday evening, killing the two people on board.

I know, it is so frustrating.
Late tonight I think I will open my word program and copy and paste all the comments and send it to his other email. That way he can see all of them.He is such a dear friend. It will be a little surprise for him when he opens his mail.

"I would worry about my brother you see if you did not let me know what you are up to."
Thanks Sis!
You AND the Canteen are always 1st in my thoughts.
I just want everyone to understand why I am not in the Canteen as much as I used to be.
This is my home away from home.
This is where I come to be with my "family".
To: GatorGirl
That is a NEAT post! Thank you sooo much GG. It is so great to see you.
To: 4TheFlag
That is so sad about the tanker that crashed. Lyons isn't to far away from my folks. It is far enough away that they aren't in any danger, but I'm sure they can see the fire.
