President Bush and First Lady Laura welcome Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski and his wife, Jolanta, to only the second State visit since Bush was sworn in. Bush and his colleague also answered a round of questions from reporters, including more questions to the President regarding his tenure at Harkin oil. The President and his guests attended the State dinner this evening. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

Before I leave to watch my videotape of today's festivities (and press conference), I thought I'd give you an update on two polls:
Washington Post/ABC News:
Even though the specifics of this poll have been analyzed on another thread, I want to underscore two interesting details:
1.) The President's approval rating should have been 73% vs 72% [Strongly Approve: 42% Somewhat Approve: 31% // If one uses 'conversative' vs 'liberal' math, 42 + 31 should equal 73% NOT 72%! Hmmmmmmmmm?!]
2.) He (President Bush) is honest and trustworthy: 71% Yes// 26% No [Incredible numbers given the relentless media attacks on the President's personal integrity!]
CBS/New York Times Poll:
"President Bush continues to get high marks from the public as a person and a President" (It must have killed Rather, et al, to write that summative statement):
70% Overall Approval
68% Foreign policy
52% Economy
The rest of the poll/poll summary focused on the disparity between the way the public views the President (positively) vs the way they view his administration (less positively) and other Republicans (even less positively). Could it be that the President's turn-the-other cheek/new tone form of compassionate conservatism has connected with a majority of the American people! Hmmmmmmmm!
Great poll numbers and green arrows on WallStreet -- we should all sleep well tonight (we'll need the rest for future battles!)

Well good night all! Tomorrow is a visit Dad day, so I have to get up early!
With pleasant visions in my head of a content-in-spite-of-the-mindless-Rat/media-criticisms President in the arms of his lady Laura tonight! ;oP

Two questions for all well informed Freepers regarding Rumsfeld. 1. Does anyone know the reason for the cast? I haven't heard anything. 2. He used to do press conferences almost every day, but C-span doesn't have them very often. Is he doing fewer press conferences, or is C-span ignoring them? 1. See Post #115
2. He usually did 2 press conferences a week but has slowed down a bit.
3. Today he testified before a Senate Committee:
Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld holds up a binder holding the 700-page Start 1 Treaty signed in 1991 by the first President Bush and Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev as he testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Wednesday, July 17, 2002 at the Capitol in Washington. The treaty took nine years to negotiate. Rumsfeld's hand is in a cast after a recent operation. He later held up and compared the treaty to the Moscow Treaty signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and the current President Bush. The new treaty is three pages long and took six months to negotiate. (AP Photo/Joe Marquette)

Great pictures, Rintense. Geez, I love this president. Makes me so proud to be from Texas (at least half my life). And I love Laura no matter what she wears, She could put on a burlap sack and outshine any other first lady. God bless our President, and God bless America. Let's not forget that we are ONE NATION UNDER GOD !!!

ENOUGH!! I think we need to email CSpan and complain! BUT I like Ann's logic in dealing with the BIAS BASTARDS. Before you send emails, we should have proof that they showed Clinton much more times than Bush. We need data to back it up. The reason the RATS are scare S***less with Ann is because she has the evidance to back up her words! Now the question is HOW do we go about? Any suggestion?? I wished I lived near the CSpan center. YOU BET I WOULD BE THERE WITH MY SIGN IN HAND Picketing on the sidewalk!
