We'll get a message soon if Iraq invades Kuwait and marches down to Saudi Arabia, all while our forces are scrambling to put up a defense.

I doubt this is likely though, since the Iraqi army is weak according to all the former officers. Plus it is not a good sign for the Iraqi's if there are so many former officers in the first place.

such an attack would be launched from neighbouring Iran and Turkey

See? They actually expect an attack from the east. This reduces the element of surprise, but they don't expect simultaneous attacks from Jordan, even though they know there are 200 jeeps with machineguns ready to roll. Baghdad will be under siege within one day. Just wait until they find out all the military replacement equipment coming in from Syria is equipped with GPS receivers disguised to look like ordinary bolts.

"Regarding the defence of the dignity and the interests of the nation, there is no flexibility. We will cut off the head of whomever lays their hands on the borders of Iraq," Sabri said.

..as US and UK fighter jets zoom in and out of Iraq whenever we please. Can anyone say paper tiger?

Why Iraq will lose (long read, but worth it)

That should stir up the opposition, All the Iraqi's have to do is look at how we helped the Northern Alliance slap the Taliban's diaper off their heads with just Advisors and Air Strikes.

Arafat smuggling all the cash he can before he high tails it out of the area before his own people lynch his fat @ss.

Iran's people are turning on the religous leaders and the Clerics can't get police to control them.

Methinks the message is being taken seriously :-)

If Saddam thinks his demise is imminent, he will pull out all stops--any WMD's he has. And from other reports, he probably has several sleeper cells here in the US as well. It may get messy.

Let's just hope GWB doesn't do a GWHB and stop short--or wobble as he has with Israel. It has to be an all-out decisive war this time.

The mother of all battles again, I presume?

"...and we will teach the Americans a lesson they'll never forget," Iraqi Culture Minister Hamad Yussef Hammadi told reporters...

Now that you can see the fine, logical, wise, realistic, honest thinking by a minister of government, consider the level of reason which may be held, by the "man on the Arab street."

All of the rhetoric and stupidity would be down right humorous, if it weren't for real people getting killed over it.

"They also called for all borders to be opened to allow Arab volunteers who wanted to help defend Iraq to travel into the country."

That would be great. Maybe the Al-Qaida will take up the offer....nah, even they are smarter than that.

Preparations were underway and "we will teach the Americans a lesson they'll never forget," Iraqi Culture Minister Hamad Yussef Hammadi told reporters on the sidelines of the parliamentary session.

What lesson might that be? The lesson that whenever some little tinpot dictator starts blowng his horn, that we should make an example out of him, and quickly?

They also called for all borders to be opened to allow Arab volunteers who wanted to help defend Iraq to travel into the country.

I would suggest that those units who will undoubtably be put out in front of the Republican Guard be given every opportunity to surrender. Most of these people last time were people who had no desire to be there in the first place; they were used as cannon fodder. Make it known that they will not be harmed if they surrender unconditionally.

Then the al-Qaida types and the Republican guards will be left, and we may proceed to destroy them. Iraq will be a better place afterwards with these elements out of the way.
