A Bush Hater's Poll
Jim Robinson

Posted on 07/10/2002 11:27:06 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

This is an unofficial quick and dirty presidential poll. Apparently, there is a good sized contingent on Free Republic that believes that President Bush is:

  1. Not conservative enough
  2. Not pro-life
  3. Is a gun-grabber
  4. Is a federal power-grabber
  5. Will appoint liberal judges
  6. Is a globalist
  7. Is in it just for oil
  8. Is too soft on immigration
  9. Is too soft (or too hard) on Israel
  10. Is a crook
  11. All of the above
  12. None of the above
  13. Other (you name it)

Please list the numbers that best match the reasons you don't like Bush (or state other reasons if not on the list) and state whether you believe that President Bush should be defeated even if it means installing a Democrat in the Whitehouse.

Conversely, if you believe President Bush should be re-elected, please state why.

Please state who you would like to see win the Presidency in 2004 and whether or not you believe he/she has a chance of winning.

Thanks,
Jim

#8 for me.

I just drove to the corner of Wilcest and US59 (Houston) to take a picture of a sign that had been posted by the local merchants. The sign wasn’t there; I asked the closest proprietor what happened to it. He informed me that, “The Mexicans stole the sign and partially knocked down the pole.”

The sign said that the merchant’s parking lot was not a rally point for illegal aliens to return to Mexico or to meet upon their arrival. The sign referenced local statues and codes that I cannot remember ergo the attempt to photograph the sign.

This sign should have been unnecessary, and would be if the INS was doing their job.

Finally, I am so sick of PC crap. These people were born in Mexico. They are Mexicans. They are NOT Hispanic or Chicano they are Mexicans. I have been to Mexico and they call themselves Mexicans just like we call ourselves Americans. The folks in Mexico do not consider this a derogatory term. The poser, wannabes here in America are the ones who do not like the term.

I am not a racist. I am a realist that has lived with the invasion and a previous post is correct that many do not want to be American. They want to live in North Mexico.

I'll just ditto what Rush said on his program today about GWB. That his biggest problem is ceding too much on every issue to the Democrats without offering any kind of vision or agenda of his own. That GWB is not advancing the conservative cause with this ridiculous strategy(?) of constantly playing it on the defensive instead of the offensive. Rush pointed out that Bush has missed opportunities to use the power of the veto a la Reagan. Good point, Rush. It is ridiculous that Bush can't turn around and use the razor-thin margins that the Bushies whine about to his (and our) advantage.

We can argue forever about why GWB is using such poor strategy and whether or not it is deliberate on his part. But it is absolutely inarguable that he is playing it poorly.

Alan Keyes is another person whom I could support if he ran for president.

Gee, a newbie shows up1 What a suprise!

Why thank you for the not so warm welcome. I think. Is my opinion invalid because I registered today?

You did not comment on what I said. Do you disagree with me? I would be interested in any critique you have concerning my comments

1. Not conservative enough I would like to see him take a stand more often. But I realize he didn't exactly arrive in office with a mandate and he campaigned as a Moderate and that = Compromise and considering he is the President of all the people, not just me, I can live with his decisions so far.

2. Not pro-life Buffalo Dung, He is the most "Pro Life" President since Roe-v-Wade became law

3. Is a gun-grabber Horse Hockey

4. Is a federal power-grabber His proposals have been for states rights

5. Will appoint liberal judges When Pigs fly

6. Is a globalist Just more slander from the Nattering Nabobs

7. Is in it just for oil Leftist Drivel

8. Is too soft on immigration So far he is the first President in my life to propose and enact restrictions, and yet nobody gives him credit. The all or nothing crowd wants him "necklaced" for "supposedly" thinking of amnesty (A NYT's divide and Conquer plot)

9 Is too soft (or too hard) on Israel As Israel has stated! they almost made him an honorary member of the Lachoud(sp)? Party because of his Moral clarity on his willingness to tell it like it is on the Palestinian situation

10. Is a crook Probably the most trustworthy President in decades

11. All of the above Place the crackpipe on the desk and slowly back away from the keyboard

12. None of the above He needs improvement on #8 but he inherited the mess

13. Other (you name it) Back in December of 2000, this country almost become a Bananna Republic when Al (count-em-again) Gore attempted to steal the presidential election, with the help of his Lawyers and his eneblers in the Press. With the country divided as it was just 18 moths ago. I think we have witnessed the most rapid and dramatic change in public opinion of a President in our nations history.

When George W. Bush took the oath of office, not too many people thought he would be much, they said he could forget about his "Huge" tax cut, they said he wouldn't be respected on the world stage, they said he wouldn't be able to get us out of the ABM treaty without another arms race with Russia. They said he didn't have much of a personality and of coarse they told us how stupid he was. Not only has he been "misunderestimated" but he has outsmarted them at every turn. In a short 17 months he has done more to change the direction of this country than Reagan did his first 5 years. Not to mention he's one helluvagood wartime President.

I will now slip into my Nomex Jammies for the scorching I'm gonna recieve from the unnapeasables and malcontents :-)

This thread has served its purpose. It was a challenge for the dump Bush crowd to give a viable alternative beyond let the "democrats have it". Once again the challenge was not met. It proves that there are many that can state a problem but few that can pose a solution.

I apologize for not addressing your serious inquiry which I belive was; "if we give amnesty to the thugs, scofflaws and disreputable arrogants ... what can be said to those who queued up and played by the rules waiting for legal entry?

C'mon IN!!! Tooth, this isn't a moral dilemma ... it's a political reality. They're here. They're staying as long as they can eat, breathe, pray and guard their family. So, folks in the INS queue .... expidited approval is my order. If there is lingering resentment ... life is a bitch sometimes and tell it to gals on "The View'.

It proves that there are many that can state a problem but few that can pose a solution.

Surely you're not arguing the lack of a solution indicates no problem?

Other solution approaches have been proposed, assuming a large part of the problem is party leadership, rather than oval office.

I could have predicted that if I had an ISP last night. I've glanced over some of the more rabid attacks and all I can say is there are some lonely miserable people in this world. Who could live with people who carry around that much baggage? If I were a psychologist I would hate to take on the case log here on FR :-)

Other solution approaches have been proposed,

Fair enough. Post what you feel is a serious solution proposal and we can discuss it. Make sure you flag the poster that put it forward. Thanks.

The "lesser evil" argument does not wash with me.

I can pick and choose between working for Republicans, or on Texas textbook issues, property rights, and gun rights.

Electing Republicans in November does not even make the cut.....they have abandoned their Conservative base...even though my spouse and I made over 800 phone bank calls in Florida during the first week of November 2000.

Live and learn.....

President G.W. Bush wants to preserve America. I trust him. He doesn't see any American as the enemy. He goes beyond party squabblins by encouraging all Americans to fight the enemy. He has my vote and support. (Every person I am in contact with is gently pursuaded to join his crusade.)

I agree with you on all counts.

What I find unfortunate is the fact that most stands or decisions Bush makes for conservative issues are not broadcast on the news media. Every issue that could make him appear doubleminded or caving to the Dems is constantly shown nightly as though it were real news.

It is so frustrating that the majority of my information I have come to find on the internet and Freerepublic.

For all of the third party folks, I can't understand how they could expect any different behaviour when it's most of the players now changing their party affiliation just to get elected. Doesn't mean their politics have changed just that they're willing to do whatever means necessary to accomplish their agenda or timetable.

President Bush is the best thing that America has for this time. You bet I'll vote for him again. Look at the alternatives.
