A Bush Hater's Poll
Jim Robinson

Posted on 07/10/2002 11:27:06 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

This is an unofficial quick and dirty presidential poll. Apparently, there is a good sized contingent on Free Republic that believes that President Bush is:

  1. Not conservative enough
  2. Not pro-life
  3. Is a gun-grabber
  4. Is a federal power-grabber
  5. Will appoint liberal judges
  6. Is a globalist
  7. Is in it just for oil
  8. Is too soft on immigration
  9. Is too soft (or too hard) on Israel
  10. Is a crook
  11. All of the above
  12. None of the above
  13. Other (you name it)

Please list the numbers that best match the reasons you don't like Bush (or state other reasons if not on the list) and state whether you believe that President Bush should be defeated even if it means installing a Democrat in the Whitehouse.

Conversely, if you believe President Bush should be re-elected, please state why.

Please state who you would like to see win the Presidency in 2004 and whether or not you believe he/she has a chance of winning.

Thanks,
Jim

4,6, and 8.

Although for the the record, he's a heck of a lot better than Algore would have been.

Who in the Republican party do you think has what it takes to take the nomination away from the President?

Only one, Jeb Bush.

I pretty much agree with all yours. I have a bit of trouble understanding why we're bombing Afghanis in their own country while Middle Eastern Saudis and Egyptians are roaming about so freely here even when they never were supposed to be here.

The President is first of all the Commander in Chief. This President kills terrorists, the last one pardoned them. Not only will I vote for President Bush again, my wife and I will send him as much money as we can depending on how poor we are left by Clintons Bear market.

Well, there's many issues upon which I disagree with Bush.  However, to paraphrase Reagan, "The man who votes with me 80% of the time is not my enemy."

For the same reason that you spray Wasp and Ant killer outside your house but you are a bit more circumspect with the DDT inside your house.

Forget Ron Paul did you? He seems like the only one in Congress that has given the Constitution more than thirty seconds worth of thought.

This President kills terrorists

Beg to differ here, the President does not kill terrorists, he sends brave and worthy men into the hell holes of the world to kill terrorists. These brave and worthy men are the ones who, in some of the most hostile areas of the world, carry out the directives of Bush. (Meanwhile, the President "just tries to stay out of harms way".)

Flame away.

I didn't get the impression that his father took votes for granted. I got the impression that Bush the first did not really want to be reelected. He had had a long career in government and he didn't seem to have Clintoon's desire to be president just for the sake of ego. I imagine that he may have had very mixed emotions when he was not reelected.

Forget Ron Paul did you?

No, I didn't but who has more name recognition and, more importantly, money to defeat the President, Ron Paul or Jeb Bush?

It will never happen, but I think it would be a fascinating to watch the siblings go at each others throats.

Myself----I don't kill the wasps and ants if they stay outside my house, it's only when they come into my house that I bother with them. Even then ---I prefer not to kill them but just send them back outside.

Gee, a newbie shows up. What a surprise!

Jim, it is well known that I am a supporter of President Bush. I wish he had vetoed the CFR, but I understand his strategy in not doing so. I also think the education bill, unless we can get vouchers implemented, will not be successful.

We have gotten a tax cut, increased military spending and military morale, a President who actually makes war on terrorists, one who is doing something to clean up the corporate abuses (unlike the last administration), an honorable and decent guy who is doing the best he can with a bad hand dealt to him.

I will support him for re-election, with every resource I have.

Thank you for this thread.

Jim,

Would you be interested in me running a Free Republic opinion poll?

I know you have the poll question of the every-month-or-so, but I am talking about getting a representative sample of Freepers with 20 or so questions.

What do you think?

1. Not conservative enough
8. Is too soft on immigration

If I have a problem with George W. Bush, these would pretty well sum it up. That being said....

It's very nice to have someone there who seems to be restoring honor, dignity, and honesty to the office of the Presidency.

I DO think GWB will appoint conservative judges; whether or not they can be approved by the Senate remains to be seen.

Unfortunately, I don't think the country as a whole is prepared to elect a "real" conservative. Look at what most of us are sending to Congress. Not to mention, most Americans seem to want the government to intervene in all sorts of areas that aren't really constitutional....

I'll be voting for Bush again. If he replaces Dick Cheney on the ticket in 2004, I'd kind of like to see Condi Rice there.

Sorry, forgot to answer the question.

Under no circumstances do I want to ever see a democrat in office again, but I am finding it harder and harder to support a man who gives all appearance to not stand up for the values I believe in, and that this country was founded on.

I cannot vote for him again with good conscience. I MIGHT hold my nose and do it again, but only if it is a tough race to keep out a democrat who might have a chance (through an election being stolen again.,..)

Well, I'm not a Bush Hater so this poll is not for me. ;-)

While I'm not totally happy with everything GW has done I'll vote for him again, yes sir!

I've grumbled about Bush, but I still like him. He's made some moves I don't like. But I'll still support him.

I have a greater problem with the Republican Party in general. I've been particularly po'd at the leadership here in Virginia in the last few months.

I'll still vote GOP, and in the end, I'm sure I'll be working for Bush in 2004. I'm not excited about our congress critter race. It's Eric Cantor against Cooter (Ben Jones from the Dukes of Hazzard). We're in the most Republican district in the state, so Cantor shouldn't have a problem. And my Senator is John Warner who is running unopposed.

I guess where I am is that I'm not exactly thrilled with everything the President has done and I'm certainly annoyed with the party. But there's no viable alternative and the main thing is to get control out of the hands of the RATS.
