This is an unofficial quick and dirty presidential poll. Apparently, there is a good sized contingent on Free Republic that believes that President Bush is:

1. Not conservative enough
2. Not pro-life
3. Is a gun-grabber
4. Is a federal power-grabber
5. Will appoint liberal judges
6. Is a globalist
7. Is in it just for oil
8. Is too soft on immigration
9. Is too soft (or too hard) on Israel
10. Is a crook
11. All of the above
12. None of the above
13. Other (you name it)

Please list the numbers that best match the reasons you don't like Bush (or state other reasons if not on the list) and state whether you believe that President Bush should be defeated even if it means installing a Democrat in the Whitehouse.

Conversely, if you believe President Bush should be re-elected, please state why.

Please state who you would like to see win the Presidency in 2004 and whether or not you believe he/she has a chance of winning.

I'm all for President Bush. I ask no more of my president than to try to do the right thing. The decisions are never easy nor can everyone be pleased every time. But it comforts me to know that he is Christian, prays and reads the Word and tries to do the right thing.

No ---Clinton allowed all kinds of people to move into the US and didn't have the FBI watching them but instead had them surrounding some Americans home in Waco. Clintons were kissing the Arafats and promising a Palestinian homeland. Maybe Afghanistan people have to be bombed but I still don't understand the open-borders for this country where anyone can come over here for whatever reason they wish. If Americans can all be required to have background checks before being allowed their Second Amendment rights, certainly foreigners can be limited and have background checks done on them.

He's not instituting any laws or reforms that will make it harder to cook the books.

Those laws already exist, and need to be inforced.

Also, I believe that the legislative branch creates laws not the executive, except with executive orders, which I disagree with.

Dr. Paul does have a fairly decent reputation going. Not only that, but he'd have GOP, RLC, and LP support if he should ever be convinced to try and run again.

You mean those types exist here on Freerepublic??? My reason for not being 100% behind President Bush.  I don't hate him and I don't consider myself a Bush Basher. #1 - Not conservative enough. Obviously, the President cannot read the Constitution. #3 - Is a gun-grabber.  Supported gun rights in Texas??  He had no choice in Texas. #4 - Is a Federal power grabber. Ditto #1 comment. #5 - Will appoint liberal judges. (Nobody can say that yet.) May appoint liberal judges. #8 - Is too soft on immigration. ABSOLUTELY TOO SOFT. George Bush is an intelligent politician.  He's no dummy! Other:  Campaign Finance Reform, Patriot Act, Federal Screeners, The Education Bill I agree with sinclair who said,  "The art of politics is compromise. Bush is a Republican that is practicing the art to too great a degree. This conceding to liberal agendas is undermining his conservative base, destroying any chance of his becoming a leader and relegating him to mere managerial status." I don't want a socialist/communist in the Whitehouse or any other branch of government. If the DU'ers are an example of Democrats in general, I will do everything I can to keep them out of office including voting for George Bush again.

I believe that he should be re-elected.

1) He's got a sufficiently broad appeal to actually get elected.
2) He's got fund raising capability, which is critical to getting elected - and to getting other candidates elected.
3) He's sufficiently mainstream to be able to work with Congress.

The ongoing disputes amongst the conservatives within this very forum suggest that there is no such thing as an ideal conservative candidate. Every candidate will be suboptimal from the perspective of many conservatives. So we must be mature enough to take what we can, and work for better - if "better" even exists.

Then I take it you havn't read this? I said when he ok'ed funding that he left a crack in the door, and that he knew full well he did. Now they have graduated to cells from the fetus and he is funding it. Check out this thread.
