Sure, the mom's allow it. They buy it, they let their kids watch anything on tv, they want their daughters to be viewed as sexy. Women's lib, ain't it great? V's wife.

I still remember that some Freeper (I can't remember who, unfortunately) once said that his daughter was preparing to go out dressed like this. He ordered her to go back to her room and put on something more modest. When she demanded to know why, he said "Because no daughter of mine is going out dressed to service the fleet."

I have a teenaged daughter who values herself enough to NOT dress like a slut. She is ummm...well-endowed... but chooses to dress modestly and conservatively. She came home the other night from a carnival and told me that many of the pre-teen girls were wearing way-too-short shorts and little tube-tops and she was disgusted. Do parents think it's "cute" for their daughters to dress like that ?? -- it's really sick if you ask me--kids grow up too fast in this society as it is...why push sexuality on them at such a young age. Why would any loving parent allow their young daughter to go out in a top that says "boy candy" or "sex goddess" ?? These are kids who are not old enough to buy their own clothes, so the parents have to be a part of it. I just don't understand it at all.

I once asked my 17 year old step daughter why she spent over an hour grooming herself before going out to look like (my words) "a young street walker anticipating a busy evening." After getting past sputtering rage at such an imputation the best she could offer was that her coiffure was in becuase it did push the envelop and look disreputable. This was circa 1988 when the nudity fad hadn't arrived and young woman preferred excessive make up and skin tight garb. I suspect the same rationale is at work today. "Looking bad is looking good"

One generation builds upon the last generation. Morality and mores change. The influence of the media brings change while professing to simply mirror society. While every Saturday night, you wrestled with some young lady, the young men of today don't have to wrestle. The young "ladies" give it out freely.

The parents of the young "ladies" look at what their daughters wear and what they do, and excuse it by saying we did the same things or worse. They also say that we did those things and look at how we turned out.

As a consequence, the young "ladies" of today look like hookers and act like them. That is partially why marriage is on the skids in this nation.

The completely loosening of morality has produced a generation that freely uses all manner of drugs and practice free, unattached sex. This is the new generation. Hope you like it. The next generation should be really interesting, indeed, if the nation is still around.

Should a 15-year-old girl be parading around in public wearing jeans [skirt] cut so low that they require shaving of pubic hair?

Seen that.

you start to wonder just when it became acceptable for young women to dress like hookers.
About a hundred years ago, the same type of comment was made about women who dared show their ankles in public.

if a dad puts his foot down and says 'no' emphatically and doesn't allow it, then he will create tension with his daughter. The children are being indoctrinated in schools to think it is OK to call 911. There have been cases where children provoked their parents to violence for the purpose of calling 911. There have been cases where a parent has tried to physically prevent his daughter from spending the weekend with a man over 10 years older than her and as a result had the child taken away.

The parent's role is simply undermined. Thanks government.

Girls were dressing like sluts when Madonna was singing "Like a virgin" in 1984.

Britney Spears is just a variation on the same theme.

Are parents allowing this...

Last weekend we took my son to a theme park. While waiting for a ride to end, I observed two very cute girls, 14 or 15, dressed as described above flirting with some boys while waiting for the ride. I was trying not to stare but they were cute.

Later we stopped at the beer garden to hear the band and have a cold one. There were several middle aged women, all with store-bought boobs and low halters and big hair. Some of them were, well, cute.

Guess who showed up? You got it, the young girls from the ride. Then I noticed two things. They all had the same flag sticker on their mostly exposed breasts. And I noticed that my wife was really annoyed...

Strange world, eh?

Should a 15-year-old girl be parading around in public wearing jeans cut so low that they require shaving of pubic hair or shorts that ride high enough in back to show off butt cheeks? Are parents allowing this or are these nymphets changing into their CFM attire after they leave home?

The parents are allowing it - with the kids pushing and cajoling and whining and crying and so on.

My oldest daughter will be 14 next month. If I had my druthers, she'd wear four pair of long overalls with a ski parka until she was 26.

When we shopped for an outfit for a school dance this spring, I suggested burlap and duck tape. My wife (She-who-must-be-obeyed) has taste that is a bit better'n mine. She came up with something tasteful, but demure (as if that's a word for what youngsters can wear any more). My daughter knows she can't push the envelope like these other kids -- and all her friends think we're old fashioned and mean.

Jasmine knows not to bug us though. She'll lose out on her privledges if she does.

It all goes back to the parents and how they raise the kids (as opposed to having the kids raise the parents).

Just when did our daughters start dressing like hookers?

Perhaps when hookers started dressing like our daughters.

I went to the DMV the other day to get a copy of my driving record (spotless, btw). There were many teens there to get licenses and permits. There was a girl with her mother standing in line in front of me. The girl was there to get her driving permit. This would have made her 15 years old. She barely looked that.

Anyways, this fifteen year-old girl sported two tattoos. One of a butterfly on the small of her back, the other of a palm-sized flower on her right breast. They were both easy to see as she was wearing a halter top that tied in the back and super low-cut jeans exposing her thong panties creeping up from the wasteband. Nothing was left to the imagination.

Now I have nothing against tattoos or *adult* women dressing sexy but the girl was fifteen for crying out loud!!! She still had braces!

I went to a LL baseball game last night. The "little" girl (12-13) taking money at the gate showed her under wear when she turned to collect from me. I had some of the same thoughts as this writer. "Why do parents allow this?"

The mothers definately look the other way. It's just too hard to say " no " for a lot of parents these days. Mr. Mist and I have a daughter who is 13. Over the years I have made well placed comments about how to conduct herself in manner and dress. She is all about class now. She watches the Style channel and dresses in a mix of prep and fashion. She'd never call herself a prep, tho, she's not snobby. Standing next to her 12 year old cousin ( who has an affection for blue eyeshadow ), she blows her off the map. Wear baby tees and butt shorts ? Not my girl. She wouldn't be caught dead in " skank wear ". Even if she did want to dress that way, her Daddy and I would have something to say about it. " NO ".

what I want to know is why, on the one hand, it is censurable for young women with nice bodies to wear revealing clothes, but, on the other hand, it is act of "empowerment" for aged/obese/pregnant women to wear similarly revealing clothes.

Why one and not the other? I suspect that we have feminism to thank for this idiotic double standard.

I wonder when word'll get out that men actually find modesty attractive. Speaking for myself, I'd like to think I'm getting something that every Tom, Dick and Harry hasn't already had.

Wish I could find that FR post about the college professor who has noted the change in young ladies nowadays. I loved the line he used, words to the effect of:

"now they all want to see who can be the sassiest trollop."

What a shame.
