Freeper in Distress Bump

As many of you may already know, Fellow Freeper Texana_RED's home was washed away in the devastating floods that are hitting Texas right now. Some of you may have seen video of a house in Kerrville floating downstream, then hitting a tree, and disintegrating. That was Texana_RED's home. Some of you may have seen an interview showing a woman on televison pointing to her red pickup truck which was lodged in a tree. That was Texana_RED. She literally got out with her pajamas, with 2 of her dogs. She lost the rest of her pets, and all the contents of her house, and workshop.
Some of you may have met Texana marching around the Governor's mansion after the election, or at the Freeper Inaugural Ball.
With Jim Robinson's gracious permission, I am being allowed to bring this Freeper in Distress Call to your attention. If you would like to send a donation to help, please check the Texas Chapter Board, or Freepmail Sockmonkey or Anymouse.

I guess you and I have been propagating an error.
Her handle is TexanaRed, instead of Texana_Red. LOL :)

On the Texas page, it mentions that Texana_RED is also a volunteer firefighter, so it would be great if we could come up with some help for this hero. If the shoe were on the other foot, she would be helping us.

Please don't flame me for this, but FEMA will certainly be offering low-interest loans for people to rebuild, whether or not homeowners had flood insurance.
They do have some requirements that people not rebuild in flood zones, I think, so that could be a problem.
My neighbor works for FEMA doing exactly this sort of thing. Want me to check?

Thanks for the ping, Texas girl!
This was what I was trying to do on the 3rd of July.
I'm glad sockmonkey got this started.
Thanks, sockmonkey, for doing this.
My check will be in the mail, and I'll ping a few friends.

Anymouse, I think she's a volunteer firefighter in the Kerrville area.
My son is a fireman for the Kerrville Fire Department.
When you talk with her tell her to freep me or e-mail me her real name so that I can tell my son her plight.
The firemen take care of their own just like we do.

My aunt, who is a dear in many other ways but has a blind spot when it comes to liberal politics, dutifully sent along her usual contribution to the local Democratic party apparatchnik last month. I felt the least I could do to counter her mistake was to send the exact same amount to TexanaRed. That way, I know it will go to somebody right and may even counteract auntie's misguided attempt to keep poor Martin Frost from starving in the streets before the next election :)

My heart and my prayers go out to Texana_Red and all the people who have lost homes and property in the floods. I want to make a donation. The top of this thread gave a name and who to write rhe check out to. I need an address where to send it to.
