Thank the Lord there have been only three deaths in the area; one in San Antonio, two to the northwest. I imagine that the people downstream will have to take major precautions when the wall of water gets there. In the "hundred year flood" we had in 1998, the people downstream were devastated as the water moved through their towns.
Just spoke to her, and pinged TX board. She is okay-homeless, in shock, but okay. She lost everything in her house, some pets, her checkbook, her little red truck. She said when some neighbors came to tell her the water was rising fast, she put some things up higher in the house, moved her vehicle across the street, grabbed a 6 pack of cokes, and a camera.
Well, within minutes her house was floating away-intact toward a field- it hit a tree, and that was the end of her house. She said right now prayers are needed.

Reporting from outside Bandera at the Bandera Homestead Timeshare resort...
The Medina River near here crested up this morning at least another 5 feet from yesterday's crest. But spillways at the Medina Dam at Medina Lake farther downstream from here were opened up and the waters are going down again. Folks downstream from Medina Lake are in alot worse shape than we are.
The only road into this complex is still well under the creek, but the water is expected to calm down enough so that they can take a small boat across and get some groceries for the residents here.
The management here told us that they are going to do their best to get us out of here by Saturday, but of course they can't guarantee that, especially if we get more rain. The water in the creek has to fall enough so they can assess the damage to the road. Material and equipment to fix it is in Bandera, but it could be commandeered to help people who are in worse shape. There are only about 40 people here in this complex up on a bluff. We are safe.
An old timer told us that back in 1973, the water did make it up to just below this bluff, but in that case, he said 23 inches of rain fell in ONE HOUR.
Rain guages here have shown that we received 8 inches early this morning which gets us up to a total of at least 26 inches since Sunday. The lightning woke everyone up about 4AM and shook the buildings, but fortunately nothing and noone was hurt. We have power, phones and water.
Current radar shows no rain over Bandera county right now, so I sure hope that situation holds.
