A teenage girl was gang-raped in central Pakistan last month as "punishment" meted out by a tribal jury for her brother's alleged affair with a woman of a higher tribe, police said.
A Panchayat, or tribal jury, ordered four men, including one of the jurists, to rape the 18-year-old girl on June 22 in the village of Meerwala.
Meerwala lies 610 kilometres south-west of the capital Islamabad.
District police chief Malik Saeed Awan said authorities were informed of the publicly-ordered gang-rape several days after the incident.
He said four men took turns to sexually assault the girl inside a room. She was then ordered to return home naked before 1,000 onlookers.
The rape was to avenge the "insult" caused to a family of the Mastoi tribe by the girl's brother's alleged "illicit affair" with a woman of a higher social standing.
The girl and her brother were from the lower Gujjar tribe.
The Panchayat had threatened that all women in the accused's family would be raped unless the 18-year-old submitted herself to the public gang rape.
Awan said police were taking action against members of the Panchayat.
Lawyers visiting the tribal area on Sunday urged the authorities to prosecute the rapists and the jury.

Do a timeline on the Arabs. Put in the establishment of the Arab Culture. Put in the important discoveries such as algebra. Put in the establishment of the Islamic Faith. You can stop right there. The timeline ends.

"There have been quite a few cases of Muslim men raping Australian women... They probably deserved it." Disgusting. As an Australian woman, I never thought I would hear that.
Oh, and if you look back on my post about the killing of an Australian woman in Horsham - that "Pastor" - I was too polite to mention this at first. He was an American.

"He was an American."
You can come up with only one bad case American? We have quite a few here.

Morocco Turkey and Jordan are the most secular of Muslim States( Pakistan used to be before Zia Al Huq took over in the 80's and introduced the Sharia). Justice is based more on reason rather than what madman Mohommad wrote in his book a few years ago.

And you also probably passed right over the implied sarcasm tag. You need to watch those things that fly over your head.

Put in the establishment of the Arab Culture. Its been around a lot longer than even the Koran (which got off the ground in 610 AD or thereabouts).
Put in the important discoveries such as algebra.
Sometime during the Zaydia Kingdom (821-1012 AD), methinks ...
Put in the establishment of the Islamic Faith.
Your timeline's got a kink or two in it. The Koran (essentially, Islam) came about around 610 AD.

Please explicitly define these terms.. I think I did by analogy. They are racist terms. But then that's just my opinion. An awful lot of that on FR these days.

Funny that these yahoos never bother to ask George W. Bush whether he supports gang-rape. Their ploy is akin to the Greens saying that automobiles and guns maime and kill thousands, and therefore they ought to be outlawed. "You support the maiming and killing of thousands!?" Or that since electricity electrocutes thousands that we ought to embrace a Luddite existence and burn whale blubber instead: "You support workers dying of electrocution?!"

"It would be much more entertaining to see you try to defend the myriad lynchings, mass murders, rapes, destruction of property, theft, et al. committed in the name of Jesus and/or the Christian God by a few deluded followers. Ask the Incas, Mayans, and the families of those lynched in the American South "Yes, very sad, but christians don't do that any more. Muslims do. Not all of them, but many, and they do it in the name of their religion.
If you want to defend them, go ahead, but do be surprised if you are ignored. We have eyes. We can see for ourselves the true nature of Islam.

Kareem Abdul Jabar has been a Buddhist for a long time, as far as I know.
