Where are the gold bugs NOW?

Well, 'the new spoosman' and many like him have told me for months that the 'fiat' currency is worthless, and gold is the only valuable currency out there. Disregarding for a second the fact that these gold bugs are so ready to part with their gold for those 'worthless fiat notes', I would like to point out that since the height of their caterwalling, Jun 01 2002, gold is down from 326$ an ounce to 314$ an ounce today. That is a 4 percent drop in less than a month.

The 'fiat currency' people are out to lunch. I don't expect gold to do any better than index with inflation in the long run, and today managed to show a savage loss of $5 an ounce.

He hates gold too much to open his mind to make money on it if given the chance."

Ha ha. You slipped. You really want that "worthless" fiat money in trade for your gold...

No I didn't. Look on this whole thread and you'll never see that I said our fiat money is worthless. I've said there is a chance that it could become worthless. I've said in a few places that our fiat money has value because our government and our military says so. But a Tunguska event over Washington would change that in a twinkling of an eye.

No, I want cash from my currency trading. I want (and get) security from gold.

"...IOW, a garage full of Spam and ammuntion could turn into a safe full of gold, which finally turns into grand estates after the crisis passes."

Perhaps - assuming you have the weapons and strategy to prevent others from taking your "goods" from you by force...

In times of crises -- especially in this country -- there will be a LOT of armed coyotes prowling and searching for the necessities.

Keeping your goods and family safe -- may require you keep your "prepared - supplied" status secret and to concentrate on surviving, instead of getting rich on your neighbors foolishness.

I man with starving children, and no gold -- but with a weapon ---- will come and attempt to take what his family needs to survive... It's normal human behavior.
