Gore Bashes Bush Policy As Cause of Biz Scandals
New York Daily News ^ | 6/28/02 | JOEL SIEGEL and LEO STANDORA

Beating what's likely to be the Democratic war drum in this year's elections, Al Gore blamed the nation's economic scandals — from Enron to WorldCom — last night on President Bush's economic policies.

"You see now what it means to have an administration that's that committed to fighting and working on behalf of the powerful, and letting the people of this country get the short end of the stick," Gore told more than 200 supporters at a Manhattan fund-raiser.

It was his strongest attack yet on Bush's economic policies and a preview of the likely Democratic strategy for November's elections.

"What we see now is a lack of confidence in our national economic policy, in the integrity of our accounting system, in the way government is being run," Gore told more than 200 supporters in Lot 61, a trendy Chelsea night spot.

The private companies, he said, "are not telling the truth about their future liabilities so they can shovel money out to executives at the top. That is exactly what the Bush-Cheney tax plan will do. They are misleading the country about the extent of the liabilities they are putting on us ... on you."

Gore also said the Securities and Exchange Commission isn't doing its job, and he called on its chairman, Harvey Pitt, to resign, suggesting Pitt is too cozy with captains of industry.

"I hope the RNC gets this out there with fury."

I heartily agree, and think they will do so. algore is like the gobbling turkey that sticks its head up over the log to taunt the fella with the blunderbus...his hypocrisy makes an easy target. Way to go, aldipstickgorefool.

There are consequences to not telling the truth in the business world. A man or business' word is it's bond and the glue that holds the free market together. We are only seeing the tip of the iceburg from the damage of the past 8 years of mistruths.

Pray for GW and the Truth

Hey Al, don't look now, but all of this garbage was happening on your watch.

This shows how much Gore is out of touch with reality.

Or might he think the American people are stupid?

Well they did vote for the slick one two times........stupid is as stupid does.......

If only there were consequences for not telling the truth for our elected representatives as well.

The legacy of the Clinton co-presidency continues to unfold.

No kidding - Clinton's great economy was built on a house of cards! THAT'S THE REAL STORY HERE!

Clinton's real LEGACY is starting to become very clear.

Starting in December 2000 with a pardon to the biggest tax cheat to Sept 11 intelligence vulnerability to fraud and deceit in the business successes of the 1990s which the dirtbag always extolled.

What a great way to start the day!

I left yesterday with my sides aching from laughing at the Frankenfish thread.

Today, it's Al Gore raggin' on W about the accounting irregularities.

Too funny.

Surprised it took sixty replies before someone mentioned that brazen excuse Gore made for his grabbing China bribes at the Bhuddist temple. First he lied about it: community outreach, then he stood in front of the tv cameras, laid his hand on his chest and said over and over, "There is no controlling legal authority." The lickspittle pressies loved it. "G-d, the brilliance of the man."

Would like to see CEO's of troubled companies call press conferences and say, "Well, thanks to the Democrats who shot down reforms in Congress, and to Dodd and Lieberman particularly for letting the foxes and the chickens co-habitate, there really was no controlling legal authority."

Scott Sullivan, the 40-year-old financial brain accused of the devastating profit-rigging at WorldCom, went into seclusion yesterday but progress continued at his palatial hideaway being built in Boca Raton, Fla. The private compound, hidden in a gated enclave, has a sprawling main mansion and five other houses on the 4.1-acre waterfront grounds. Sullivan was the chief financial officer of the long-distance dud for nine years - until he was booted this week. He is said to be the architect of its heavy-handed scheme to cook up nearly $4 billion in cash flow that never existed. It kept the company afloat for a while until an eagle-eyed WorldCom accountant, Cynthia Cooper, blew the whistle...

From another article posted here on F.R. It's amazing how quickly a person can turn bad -- cooking up 4 bil. in fraud starting in Feb. of 2000? I'll buy that! (NOT!)

And here I had sworn to never vote for Algore but if he has the support of a solid citizen like Jerry Springer I guess I will have to reconsider. Now if he can just get a cameo role on Will & Grace he will be a shoo in.

Yes, this damn Bush Administration is investigating law-breaking and busting the guilty, thereby undermining confidence when folks hear about it!! If this is gonna be a lynchpin of the DemonRAT strategy this Fall, they're in a whole lotta trouble come November...MUD
