Sacramento atheist Michael Newdow said Wednesday he was trying to restore the Pledge of Allegiance to its pre-1954 version because no one should be forced to worship a religion in which they don't believe.

But if the threatening messages on his answering machine are any indication, the American public is not thanking him.

Me? I pledge allegiance to the Constitution of the United States, or what's left of it.

Not me. I pledge allegiance to the Flag, and to the nation for which it stands. The government sure as hell is no longer part of either of those.

. The Constitution does NOT guarantee annyone freedom FROM religion.

It damn sure does! You have the right to be religious, but you do NOT have the right to shove your religious views down anyone else's throat.

I told him not to worry, this faggot will die of aids and we can all go urinate on his grave.

Oh,yeah. He doesn't follow religious views that tell him to "love your fellow man",so he must be a homo, right?

If you were standing in a cafeteria, and some food you despised was brought out, would you demand that it be taken completely out of sight? If it were left there, would you scream it was being "shoved down your throat"?

Intolerent, bigoted weasel.

Congress has no power to prohibit religion.

The Pledge with "under God" in it, certainly fails the test of the government establishing a religion.

It simply isn't intellectually honest to take it any other way.

But they know they can poke Christians in the eyes with pointed sticks and get away with it.

This guy is filing a lawsuit that he hopefully 'officially' separates the United States of America from God..............

.......it's only a matter of time. These God-hunting totalitarians are really asking for it.

- Because One Nation Under God et al is the entire point of this country.

No,it's not. The point of this country is individual freedom, which is the exact opposite of what religion is all about.

Sad as it may sound, at times I hope they move against us. Outright. Because when they do, it's going to be time to send them where they belong.

Maelstrom, perhaps you can explain to the rest of us how the use of the phrase "Under God" establishes a religion and elucidate us as to exactly which religion it establishes? Thanks so much--we've been waiting ALL DAY! GG
