US Constitution declared Unconstitutional

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals declares the US Constituion unconstitutional because it violated the basic Constitutional tenet of separation of church and state. Specifically, the Preamble, which most schoolchildren are required to memorize, contains the word "blessings." Blessing, of course, is the act or words of one that blesses. Bless is defined by Merriam-Websters Collegiate Dictionary as 1 : to hallow or consecrate by religious rite or word 2 : to hallow with the sign of the cross 3 : to invoke divine care for.
The text of the Constitution, therefore, impermissibly takes a position with respect to the purely religious question of the existence and identity of God," the court's three judge panel wrote.

Well, not all of the southern half of Guam. Some there refused to accept it, but troops are being sent.

Maybe I could lose a few pounds by moving to Texas. Doesn't seem like anything else is going to work.

Not to mention that Article VII of the Constitution states that ratification was "done in Convention by the Unanimous Consent of the States present the Seventeenth Day of September in the Year OF OUR LORD one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven . . . ". Is that unconstitutional too? They'll probably use that to say the whole thing was never properly ratified! And I can only wonder what that G. Washington fellah said after he signed it! Let's hope he didn't mention God again or we're really done for!

Perhaps you should be more specific. Some residents of the Southern half may have gotten confused and started floating after reading your post.

It's too sad to cogitate.
Guamanians float so easily, too, being skinny and all.

Kaz, apologies for repeating your info . . . I was goofing around trying to remember how to close italics (never could remember) and by the time I posted, yours was up.

I just hope the naugas on Guam don't float off, too. That's one of the last remaining big herds the furniture makers haven't killed for their hides.

I agree. This is one of the problems that occurs when all education is under direct state control. I would much rather dismantle the Department of Education than put the Pledge of Allegiance back in the public school system. That way, the Pledge of Allegiance can be said by whoever wants to say it at the beginning of school.

I know. But your analogy was off.
To: rth_sr
Did the order also include an injunction compelling God to immediately withdraw his hand of protection over the U.S.A., which protection had been improperly asked for by the signers of the Declaration of Independence when they executed that document "with a firm Reliance on the Protection of divine Providence"?
To: Democratic_Machiavelli
Actually, I would be more of a proponent of just totally dismantling the public school system in this country, period.
Most local governments in America are separate from the actual school district. The way the Illinois public system is set up is just pretty crappy. All of the funding for school districts comes from property taxes, which allows for huge inequalities in education. One school district might be able to afford $16,000 per student, while another can only spend $2,000 per student. Kids should be able to have the best educational opportunities available to them and the public school system just isn't it for most kids.

This just in......the 9th Circuit has cancelled the 4th of July. There goes the 4 day weekend.

That's why I did not even bother to reply.

You should probably state that then. Your post has the potential to confuse a lot of people. If only because now it's an entirely realistic scenario.

Actually I've always thought that the witness oath was quite unfair to monotheists, since atheists would have no qualms about saying "so help me God" and lying.
To: ofMagog
It is a lot more possible for a wacky federal court to declare the text of the U.S. Constitution to be un-Constitutional, than for the laws of gravity to be repealed. Yes? You insinuate that it is just as possible for the earth to stop spinning on its axis? That is a weak analogy, in my humble opinion. And I am not talking about centrifical force.
To: FreedominJesusChrist
Amazing.
I would like to see schools under local government control (i.e. cities) if there's a public school system at all. I'm really impressed with what I've seen from homeschoolers, though, and believe strongly that it should be given as much room to grow as possible.
